C2i is recruiting for Time Out Market, to build the team behind one of Abu Dhabi's most anticipated openings. Time Out Market is the division of Time Out that brings our food and cultural experiences to life for our guests, readers and clients.Our Bar Supervisor / Head Bartender leads the bar team on the floor — setting the standard behind the bar, developing the bartenders and barbacks, and making sure every guest receives outstanding service and product on every visit.WHAT YOU'LL DOLeading the teamSupervise daily bar operations to ensure efficient, smooth and consistent serviceLead, motivate and support the bartender and barback team to achieve operational excellenceConduct daily shift briefings and communicate operational updates to team membersSchedule and assign daily duties and responsibilitiesTrain and coach team members on service, drink recipes, product knowledge and SOPsMonitor workflow and allocate tasks across the team throughout the shiftFoster teamwork, professionalism and a positive work environmentRunning the barEnsure all opening, operating and closing procedures are completed to company standardsMaintain drink quality, presentation and consistency across every order and every bartenderWork the bar during peak service, leading by example on speed, accuracy and guest engagementManage stock levels, inventory, product rotation, par levels and wastageMonitor POS transactions, payment handling, bartender banks and daily sales activitySupport the achievement of sales targets through upselling and effective serviceMonitor bar equipment and report maintenance issues promptlyMaintain line of sight and atmosphere control across the bar area throughout the shiftComplete shift handovers, reports and operational recordsCompliance and guest careEnsure full compliance with safety, health, hygiene and all applicable liquor lawsUphold responsible alcohol service across the team — ID checks, recognising intoxication, and refusing service courteously when requiredMonitor potentially intoxicated or disruptive guests and escalate to managementHandle guest feedback, concerns and escalations professionally and effectivelyReport incidents of theft, vandalism, violations or safety hazards to management immediatelyWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FORMinimum of five years' experience in hospitality in a high-volume bar, with at least one to two years in a supervisory or head bartender roleStrong knowledge of beer, wine, spirits and classic and contemporary cocktail techniqueProven experience developing and coaching a bar teamPOS system confidence, with strong numerical accuracy across cash handling and bar banksSolid understanding of stock control, par levels and wastage managementAbility to communicate effectively and assertively in English, verbally and in writing, with staff, clients and the publicStrong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skillsAbility to maintain composure, personal integrity and a high level of confidentialityAbility to handle a fast-paced, busy environment, work under pressure and meet deadlinesHigh School Diploma preferredTHE ENVIRONMENTRestaurant environment with varying levels of noise and crowds depending on guest volume. The role is physically active — extended periods standing, moving at pace, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Varied shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays. A professional, neat and well-groomed appearance is required at all times.
