Kids & Coffee values reliability, teamwork, and a positive attitude, offering opportunities to grow skills in hospitality and leadership.Role Description The Barista Lead is a full-time, on-site position based at Kids & Coffee in San Diego, CA. This role oversees daily café operations during assigned shifts, including preparing espresso drinks and other beverages to standard, coordinating food preparation, and ensuring consistent product quality. The Barista Lead provides hands-on customer service, supports a friendly environment for families and children, and models effective communication and interpersonal skills for the team. Responsibilities include training and guiding baristas to the SOP, monitoring inventory for coffee and food items, ensuring proper breaks are being assigned according to California Labor Laws and taken by all team members throughout the duration of the shift, monitoring and ensuring all team members consistently follow established drink and food recipes to maintain quality and consistency and collaborating for seasonal menu development. maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar and seating areas, and assisting with opening and closing procedures. The Barista Lead also helps resolve guest concerns promptly, reinforces safety and hygiene standards, and collaborates with management to improve service and efficiency.QualificationsStrong customer-facing skills, including Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills, with the ability to create a welcoming environment for guests of all ages.Hands-on Barista experience, including espresso preparation, drink customization, and familiarity with café equipment.Clear and professional Communication skills for interacting with guests, colleagues, and management.Food Preparation skills with attention to safety, hygiene, and basic café food handling standards.Previous experience in a café, coffee shop, or hospitality setting, ideally in a lead or supervisory role.Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move supplies, and work in a fast-paced environment.Reliable time management, organization skills, and the ability to prioritize during busy periods.Availability to work a flexible full-time schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.Compensation: $23/hour + credit card/cash tipping pool
