We are not a traditional university, gym, military program, or trade school — we are building a scalable human development institution designed for the future workforce.The OpportunityUHP is seeking a Behavioral Health Clinician (LCSW or clinical psychologist) to serve as the licensed behavioral health professional on our campus. You'll support the mental health, psychological safety, and performance readiness of our students, who are primarily veterans in transition, and help our staff do the same.This is a hybrid role that blends clinical judgment, proactive wellness, and instruction. It is not an ongoing therapy caseload. You'll be the licensed professional students and staff turn to when a situation calls for one: crisis response, risk assessment, behavioral health support during incidents, and referral to outside care. Mental health is central to what UHP teaches, so instruction is a core part of this role. You'll also help establish the clinical guardrails and escalation pathways that keep our team within scope of practice, and serve as UHP's subject-matter expert on behavioral health.Key ResponsibilitiesCrisis Response & Risk ManagementRespond to student crises and conduct risk and safety assessments within your scope of practiceSupport the behavioral health and risk-assessment aspects of student incidents, including conduct, harassment, and safety mattersPartner with program leadership, People, and Security, who retain decision authority for conduct, harassment, and safety investigationsDocument incidents and meet mandated reporting requirements per UHP policy and Arkansas lawCoordinate referrals to outside care, including the VA, Vet Centers, and community providersCoordinate emergency student needs, such as travel home, with program leadershipProactive Wellness & Student SupportDevelop and lead a proactive wellness plan that identifies student barriers early in the programConduct early wellness check-ins covering stress, sleep, mood, concentration, and social connection, with follow-up around the program midpoint and warm handoffs for students who need more supportProvide brief one-on-one support and interventions within the learning environmentHelp students regulate stress, navigate challenges, and stay engaged in the programSupport conflict resolution and healthy group dynamicsParticipate in daily team syncs, student reviews, and After Action Reviews (AARs)Instruction & FacilitationTeach or co-teach modules on emotional regulation, stress management, communication and empathy, values-based decision-making, and mental performance foundationsLead staff development on emotional regulation, stress management, and communicationLead experiential, hands-on sessions rather than lecturesModel professionalism, presence, and psychological safety in the classroomContribute to curriculum development and refinementScope of Practice & Program IntegrationEstablish clinical guardrails and escalation pathways that keep coaches, instructors, and staff within scope of practice, with clinical and investigative responsibilities clearly delineatedEquip faculty and staff to recognize concerns, respond appropriately, and escalate, without expecting them to act as mental health professionalsProvide consultation, support, and referral for UHP team membersContribute across UHP programs (IHC, CPT, CNC, IGNITE, and leadership tracks) and support campus culture initiativesRequiredQualifications & ExperienceActive license as an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) or licensed clinical psychologist in Arkansas, or ability to obtain Arkansas licensure before start date5+ years of post-graduate experience, ideally with veterans, military, or high-stress populationsDirect experience with crisis intervention and risk assessmentExperience teaching, facilitating, or working with adult learnersKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong foundation in trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches (ACT, MI, mindfulness, NVC, CFT, IFS, etc.)Sound judgment on the boundaries between coaching, education, and clinical careHigh emotional intelligence and the ability to build trust quickly with diverse populationsComfortable navigating group dynamics and high-intensity environmentsTeam-oriented, collaborative mindsetPreferredExperience with military, veteran, or tactical populations (VA, Vet Centers, Military & Family Life Counseling, SOF behavioral health, or operational psychology)Familiarity with reintegration challenges, sleep, and substance-use considerationsExperience in performance psychology, clinical health psychology, health coaching, or group facilitationNational Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), or willingness to obtainSchedule & Work EnvironmentSchedule: Typically Monday through Friday. Flexibility is required based on program delivery and campus operational needs, including varying start and end times, occasional evenings and weekends, and support of immersive student experiences. This role also requires availability to respond to student, staff, and campus emergencies, including on-call coverage when needed.Work Environment: Fully onsite at 25200 Ranch Road, Gentry, Arkansas 72734. This role operates in a dynamic and immersive environment supporting classroom instruction, experiential learning sessions, one-on-one student support, and broader campus operations.
