With an islandwide network of medical centers, laboratories, and wellness services, Nawaloka offers broad access to high-quality healthcare across Sri Lanka.Role Description The Biomedical Engineering Intern will support the installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of medical equipment across clinical departments at the Colombo flagship facility. This internship role involves assisting senior biomedical engineers with equipment performance checks, documentation of service activities, and adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards. The intern will help maintain inventory of devices and spare parts, update asset records in hospital systems, and collaborate with clinical staff to understand user needs and operational challenges. The role also includes participating in technology evaluations, supporting equipment-related training sessions, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives for diagnostic and therapeutic devices. This is an on-site internship role based in Colombo, requiring regular presence within hospital units and technical service areas.Qualifications Progress toward or completion of a diploma or bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.Foundational knowledge of medical devices and systems such as patient monitors, imaging equipment, infusion pumps, ventilators, and laboratory instruments.Basic skills in electronics, instrumentation, and troubleshooting, including reading technical manuals, circuit diagrams, and equipment specifications.Understanding of equipment safety standards, hospital infection control practices, and regulatory considerations relevant to clinical technology.Ability to document maintenance activities clearly, maintain accurate asset records, and follow structured procedures and checklists.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and willingness to learn in a fast-paced healthcare environment.Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with engineers, technicians, clinicians, and administrative staff.Proficiency in basic IT tools (e.g., MS Office, spreadsheets) and comfort with digital hospital systems or asset management software.
