Batterjee Medical College is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Biomedical Technician to support the maintenance and operational readiness of biomedical, laboratory, and simulation equipment across academic and clinical training facilities. The role ensures all equipment functions safely, accurately, and efficiently to support education, research, and healthcare training activities.Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance & Repair Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for biomedical and laboratory equipment Diagnose faults and perform repairs for devices such as: Patient monitoring systems Laboratory and diagnostic equipment Simulation and training devices Ensure equipment operates according to manufacturer specifications Minimize equipment downtime through timely troubleshooting and repair Installation & Commissioning Assist in installation, setup, and commissioning of new biomedical equipment Verify functionality, calibration, and safety prior to operational use Ensure proper equipment configuration and readiness Inspection & Preventive Maintenance Conduct routine inspections and scheduled preventive maintenance activities Follow manufacturer guidelines and approved maintenance checklists Identify potential issues and implement corrective actions proactively Calibration, Testing & Quality Assurance Perform calibration and functional testing where applicable Support quality assurance checks and validation processes Coordinate external calibration services when required Troubleshooting & Technical Support Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions and user complaints Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently Provide basic technical guidance and support to users Asset Management & Documentation Maintain equipment inventory, asset tagging, and service history records Document maintenance, calibration, and repair activities accurately Ensure records are complete, organized, and audit-ready Spare Parts & Inventory Control Monitor spare parts and consumables inventory Maintain specialized tools and testing instruments Ensure manufacturer-approved parts are used during repairs Safety & Compliance Conduct pre-use safety and functionality checks Ensure faulty equipment is properly labeled and removed from service Follow biomedical, electrical, and institutional safety procedures Support audit requirements and regulatory compliance standards Academic & Operational Support Coordinate with faculty and laboratory staff to ensure equipment readiness for: Practical sessions Laboratory classes Examinations Schedule maintenance activities to minimize operational disruptions Vendor Coordination Coordinate with external vendors for specialized maintenance and repairs Monitor vendor activities and verify service quality Continuous Improvement Report equipment incidents, failures, and recurring technical issues Support root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions Assist in equipment lifecycle evaluation and replacement planning Requirements Diploma in Biomedical Engineering or related field Minimum 2–5 years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance preferred Basic knowledge of electronics, medical devices, and laboratory systems Experience in hospitals, medical colleges, or simulation centers preferred Skills & Competencies Technical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities Documentation and reporting skills Communication and user support skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team Health, Safety & Compliance Follow all institutional safety procedures and PPE requirements Ensure safe handling of electrical and biomedical equipment Maintain clean and safe technical and laboratory environments Adhere to infection control and safety policies where applicable
