Job DescriptionOur client, a renowned academic medical institution affiliated with a leading university, is hiring a Blood Bank Director (Pathologist or Hematologist) MD. This esteemed hospital system seeks an accomplished leader to oversee Blood Bank operations across multiple facilities. This full-time faculty position offers the opportunity to contribute to patient safety, compliance, and quality assurance within a major clinical and training environment. The ideal candidate will provide strategic leadership, ensure regulatory adherence, and collaborate effectively with hospital and laboratory senior management.ResponsibilitiesLead and oversee Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine operations at two hospital sites. Ensure patient safety and high-quality blood bank practices in line with industry standards. Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies, including AABB, NY State Department of Health, and College of American Pathologists. Supervise laboratory protocols, policies, and quality assurance programs. Collaborate with hospital leadership on clinical and operational initiatives. Manage personnel and laboratory workflows to optimize service delivery. Participate in academic activities, including teaching, research, and faculty development. RequirementsMedical degree (MD or DO) with board certification in Clinical Pathology or Combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, or American Board of Internal Medicine certification in Hematology with relevant transfusion medicine experience. Board certification or training in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine is a plus. Minimum of 1 year of postgraduate training/experience in Blood Banking or Transfusion Medicine. Eligibility to obtain a valid New York State License, Medicaid number, and NY State CoQ in transfusion services and immunohematology. Experience supervising Clinical Pathology operations and regulatory compliance preferred. Additional skills in laboratory management, regulatory standards, and team leadership are highly valued.
