Global Risks. National Priorities. Frontier Technologies.Global risks are converging faster than most institutions can assess, test and respond to them. AI, cyber, critical infrastructure, energy, climate, supply chains, health, finance and geopolitical disruption are no longer separate domains—they increasingly interact, compound and shape national priorities together. The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI) is a fiercely independent, non-partisan public-interest institution with Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2023 and an active network spanning 120+ countries. Together with the Global Risks Forum (GRF) and the Global Risks Alliance (GRA), GCRI is advancing the Nexus Consortium to help countries and institutions connect global risks to national priorities—and move from fragmented analysis toward coordinated testing, evidence and action.A central part of this model is Nexus Universe: an annual temporary high-performance computing, high-speed network and frontier-technology environment where emerging technologies and critical capabilities can be assembled, integrated, stress-tested and benchmarked against real-world systemic risks before wider adoption. The objective is practical and urgent: help de-risk national portfolios of strategic technologies, infrastructure and resilience priorities before major policy, capital and deployment decisions become difficult to reverse. The consortium is now appointing a select Leadership Council of senior leaders who already hold significant executive or institutional responsibilities and can contribute alongside their existing roles. We are seeking leaders who can:Bring an authoritative perspective from a country, city, region, sector, institution or international networkConnect national priorities with emerging global risks and opportunitiesConvene senior decision-makers across government, industry, science, infrastructure and capitalMobilize institutions, expertise, technology, infrastructure, partnerships and resourcesIdentify strategic priorities that should be tested, challenged and de-risked before large-scale adoptionBuild coalitions capable of moving from risk identification to evidence, readiness and actionContribute at national, regional and global scaleThis is not an employment opportunity. Council Members remain in their existing executive or institutional positions and serve through a formal strategic and consultative appointment. Where formal representation is involved, the appropriate institutional or jurisdictional mandate is required. Appointment is selective and subject to GCRI Canada's membership and governance framework, applicable membership commitments, fit-and-proper review, independence and conflict-of-interest requirements. The formation window is now open.We welcome nominations and expressions of interest from leaders who can help answer a defining question:How should national priorities be tested, strengthened and de-risked against the global risks and frontier technologies that will shape the next decade?
