The role requires strong knowledge of permitting processes, regulatory requirements, project management, stakeholder coordination, and service delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement building permit policies, procedures, standards, workflows, and service-level requirements.Manage end-to-end building permit operations from application submission through approval, issuance, amendments, and closure.Oversee the intake, registration, completeness review, routing, tracking, and processing of permit applications.Establish clear requirements for drawings, specifications, calculations, supporting documents, approvals, and technical submissions.Coordinate technical reviews involving architecture, structural engineering, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, accessibility, environmental, and other disciplines as applicable.Assign applications to qualified reviewers and monitor workload, priorities, deadlines, and review progress.Ensure permit applications are reviewed consistently and in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, standards, and policies.Coordinate with planning, zoning, engineering, fire, environmental, utilities, transportation, and other authorities where required.Review complex or high-risk applications and coordinate resolution of technical or regulatory issues.Manage requests for additional information, technical comments, revisions, resubmissions, and applicant responses.Ensure permit decisions, conditions, approvals, rejections, and required corrections are accurately documented.Oversee permit issuance, amendments, renewals, transfers, extensions, suspensions, and cancellations.Establish procedures for expedited, priority, complex, large-scale, or strategically important development applications.Coordinate building permit requirements with development approvals, planning permissions, utility connections, and related regulatory processes.Monitor permit applications against established service-level agreements and statutory timelines.Identify processing delays, bottlenecks, incomplete submissions, and recurring application issues.Work with applicants, developers, architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and property owners to resolve permitting issues.Provide clear guidance on permit requirements, submission standards, review procedures, fees, timelines, and approval conditions.Manage permit-related inquiries, complaints, escalations, and service-recovery activities.Coordinate with inspection teams to ensure approved permits are properly linked to construction inspections and compliance activities.Support inspections, occupancy approvals, completion certificates, and project closeout processes where applicable.Maintain accurate permit records, application histories, approvals, drawings, conditions, correspondence, fees, inspections, and supporting documentation.Ensure appropriate document control, version management, records retention, and confidentiality.Monitor permit fees, payments, refunds, adjustments, and related financial controls.Coordinate with Finance and administrative teams to maintain accurate permit revenue and transaction records.Develop and maintain permit-management systems, digital workflows, application portals, and electronic document processes.Work with technology teams to improve online submissions, automated notifications, digital review, electronic approvals, and application tracking.Establish quality-control procedures for permit reviews, approvals, documentation, and issuance.Conduct periodic audits of permit files to identify errors, inconsistencies, delays, or compliance risks.Monitor changes to building codes, regulations, standards, policies, and government requirements affecting permit administration.Update procedures, checklists, guidance materials, and staff training when requirements change.Develop training programs for permit officers, reviewers, inspectors, and administrative personnel.Manage internal teams, consultants, technical reviewers, and external service providers.Establish performance expectations and monitor team productivity, review quality, customer service, and compliance.Manage permit-processing budgets, resources, contracts, and operational requirements.Develop dashboards and management reports covering application volumes, processing times, approvals, rejections, backlogs, fees, risks, and service performance.Use data analytics to identify process-improvement opportunities and improve permitting capacity and efficiency.Support major development projects by coordinating permitting requirements, review schedules, stakeholder meetings, and approval milestones.Maintain strong relationships with government authorities, professional bodies, developers, consultants, contractors, and community stakeholders.Promote transparency, consistency, accountability, technical quality, and customer-focused service construction regulation, building control, municipal services, planning administration, engineering, or related regulatory environments.The candidate should demonstrate:Strong understanding of building permit processes and regulatory administration.Knowledge of building codes, construction standards, planning requirements, and technical review procedures.Experience managing permit
