That only works if the solutions are grounded in real business needs — precisely specified, correctly scoped, and ready to build. This Business Analyst role is primarily about making requirements happen. You are the entry point into the NEXT operating model for regional business challenges: you surface them, structure them, and translate them into use-case specifications and business cases that the NEXT team can triage, prioritise, and act on. Your centre of gravity is the Intake and Triage phases, but you don’t hand off and walk away: you stay embedded in the scrum team through Build, thinking like a business user and like a Product Owner — and stepping in as proxy Product Owner when the team needs it. Throughout, you bridge the language of business with the feasibility language of AI engineering. You will work closely with regional stakeholders to understand their context, conduct process and data analysis, and produce the structured artefacts that keep NEXT's pipeline moving. You don't need to be a data scientist or engineer — what matters most is your ability to ask the right questions, document with precision, and keep both business and technical colleagues aligned on what needs to be built and why.ABOUT THE TEAM The role sits within Brunel’s in-house NEXT Department which builds and scales AI solutions that create measurable impact across the business.WHAT YOU’LL DO Requirements & Use-Case Specification — Your Primary FocusEngage regional business units to surface challenges and opportunities, translating them into structured use cases ready for NEXT Intake.Conduct process analysis and data mapping to provide the analytical groundwork for Triage feasibility assessments.Assess data readiness (availability, quality, volume) and surface AI-specific feasibility and governance flags early in Triage — privacy/GDPR, EU AI Act risk class, and any automated decision-making.Write clear, precise user stories and acceptance criteria that are actionable for both business stakeholders and NEXT engineers. For AI use cases, frame acceptance criteria as measurable quality bars and evaluation sets — acceptable error rates and human-in-the-loop checks — rather than purely binary pass/fail conditions.Perform impact analyses for change requests and new use cases, supporting sound prioritisation decisions.Maintain structured documentation of requirements, process flows, and functional specifications throughout the Build phase.Business Case Preparation & Intake SupportPrepare and present business cases — including effort/impact estimates — to support Intake decisions and Prioritisation sessions with the Portfolio Lead and Product Owner.Challenge and refine regional submissions to ensure they meet the quality bar required for Triage — clear problem statement, measurable outcome, and realistic scope.Support the Portfolio Lead in maintaining a healthy, well-structured intake pipeline.Agile Delivery CollaborationWork as an embedded member of the scrum team — co-owning backlog refinement, sprint planning, and governance sign-offs during the Build phase, and stepping in as proxy Product Owner when needed.Act as the business-side point of contact for the Engineering Lead during development — clarifying requirements, resolving ambiguities, and validating outputs.Identify and flag scope creep, dependency risks, or requirement gaps early, keeping delivery on track.Adoption & Feedback LoopCoordinate with the Adoption & Enablement Expert to ensure solutions are adoption-ready at handoff — with clear documentation, training inputs, and stakeholder context.Monitor post-launch usage and value signals in collaboration with the Adoption Expert, feeding learnings back into the intake and requirements process.Identify patterns across use cases that signal systemic improvement opportunities or scalable solutions.WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR HBO/WO degree, preferably in Business Administration, Information Management, Computer Science, or related field3–5 years of experience as Business Analyst or in a similar requirements-focused roleProven ability to translate complex, ambiguous business problems into structured, buildable specificationsStrong process analysis and data mapping skillsHands-on experience writing user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria for development teamsComfortable working in Agile/Scrum environmentsHands-on with Azure DevOps (boards, backlogs, sprints) for backlog and delivery managementFluent in English; Dutch is a strong advantageProven track record of collaborating with both business stakeholders and technical teamsINTERVIEW PROCESSTwo interviews and an online assessmentWHAT'S IN IT FOR YOUCompetitive base salary.Hybrid & flexible working – 3 days in the office.Coaching and mentoring through weekly check-ins.Friendly, collaborative & supportive team environment.Laptop and smart phone with Microsoft powered IT tools.Benefits; including pension scheme, group health insurance, 26 paid vacation days with the option to buy upto 40 vacation days per year, travel allowance scheme, bicycle lease plan, gym discount.Through the Brunel Academy - Brunel's learning & development programme - you have every opportunity to continue to develop yourself, both professionally and personally.
