Business Analyst

Role OverviewWe are looking for a Business Analyst to work closely with customer stakeholders and project teams to understand business requirements and translate them into clear, actionable requirements for data and analytics initiatives. The role will support data catalogue, data modelling, data remediation, dashboard development, KPI definition, semantic mapping, and data publication workstreams.The Business Analyst will act as a key bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that business terms, critical data elements, ownership, classification, glossary content, and validation requirements are accurately captured and aligned with business objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesEngage directly with customer stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business requirementsDefine and maintain business terms, definitions, and business rulesIdentify and document Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and their business significanceFacilitate identification of data ownership, stewardship, and accountabilitySupport data classification and authoritative register scope definitionDevelop and maintain business glossaries and ensure consistent terminology across stakeholdersDefine and validate semantic mappings between business concepts and data elementsGather and document KPI definitions, calculation logic, business rules, and reporting requirementsDefine data publication scope, target users, and business validation requirementsTranslate business requirements into clear functional requirements and user stories for technical teamsWork with data engineers, data architects, data governance teams, BI developers, and other technical stakeholders to ensure requirements are correctly implementedSupport data catalogue and metadata management activities by validating business context and ownership informationParticipate in data modelling discussions and ensure models align with business requirementsSupport data remediation initiatives by identifying business data quality requirements, rules, and validation criteriaReview dashboards and reports to ensure KPIs and business definitions are accurately representedCoordinate stakeholder reviews, requirement walkthroughs, and sign-offsIdentify gaps, inconsistencies, and conflicts in business definitions and facilitate their resolutionPrepare requirements documentation, process flows, business rules, mapping documents, and acceptance criteriaSupport User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by preparing scenarios, validating results, and coordinating stakeholder feedbackMaintain traceability between business requirements, data elements, reports, dashboards, and published data assetsEnsure deliverables meet agreed business, governance, quality, and compliance requirementsRequired Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field4–7 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within data, analytics, data governance, or digital transformation projectsStrong experience in business requirements gathering and stakeholder managementExperience working with data governance, data cataloguing, metadata, data quality, or data management initiativesStrong understanding of business glossary, data ownership, data classification, CDEs, KPIs, and data definitionsAbility to translate business requirements into clear technical and functional requirementsStrong analytical, documentation, communication, and presentation skillsExperience preparing BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process flows, business rules, acceptance criteria, and UAT documentationAbility to work effectively with both business and technical teamsStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple requirements and stakeholdersPreferred SkillsExperience with Data Governance and Data Management frameworksFamiliarity with data catalogue and metadata management tools such as Microsoft Purview, Informatica, Collibra, or similar platformsUnderstanding of data modelling, data lineage, data quality, BI, and analytics conceptsFamiliarity with SQL and relational databasesExperience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau is an advantageKnowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOpsExperience working on enterprise-scale data transformation or governance programmesKey DeliverablesBusiness requirements and functional specificationsBusiness glossary and business term definitionsCritical Data Element documentationData ownership and stewardship definitionsData classification requirementsSemantic and data mappingsKPI definitions and business rulesData publication requirementsUAT scenarios and acceptance criteriaStakeholder validation and sign-off documentationRequirements traceability and process documentation
