Apply & track with Apply EdgeWe are looking for an experienced Business Development Lead(Technical & Commercial)-UAEN to join a leading organization within the Power Generation sector in Abu Dhabi.This role will support the identification, technical evaluation and development of new generation opportunities across local and international markets. Working closely with Business Development, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal and other stakeholders, you will help assess the technical feasibility, commercial viability and key risks of potential investments and projects.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate new power generation and investment opportunities from a technical and commercial perspectiveConduct market assessments, feasibility reviews and technical analysis for greenfield developments, acquisitions, JVs and other growth opportunitiesSupport technical due diligence and investment assessmentsEvaluate potential EPC, OEM and O&M solutions, including associated technical risks and cost considerationsSupport CAPEX/OPEX assumptions and development of project business casesCoordinate with Engineering, Operations, Asset Management, Finance, Legal and other internal stakeholdersSupport preparation of investment proposals, memoranda and recommendations for senior management and investment committeesEngage with EPC contractors, OEMs, technical advisors and other external stakeholdersSupport technical and commercial workstreams throughout the project development lifecycle through to project/deal closingMonitor market developments and emerging opportunities within the power generation sector
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related disciplineMinimum 4 years of relevant experience in business development, project development, project management or technical-commercial rolesStrong exposure to power generation / energy projectsUnderstanding of project development, EPC and O&M considerationsAbility to assess technical information within a broader commercial and investment contextStrong analytical, stakeholder management and communication skillsExperience working across multidisciplinary teams on complex projectsHighly Advantageous:
- Experience with CCGT / gas-fired / thermal power generation projects
- Previous experience with an IPP, power developer, utility, OEM or major EPC contractor
- Exposure to technical due diligence, project feasibility, CAPEX/OPEX assessment and investmentevaluation
- Experience supporting power projects through bidding, development and/or transaction closing
- UAE/GCC and international project exposureThis opportunity would suit an engineer who has moved beyond pure engineering or project execution and developed strong project development, technical-commercial and business acumen within the power generation industry.
