The Business Development Specialist opens new segments, verticals, platforms and partnerships that generate merchant flow at scale — complementing, not duplicating, the direct sales motion. 2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES • New channel and new segment volume contribution • Partnership origination, negotiation support and ongoing management • Platform and technology integration partnerships • Partner-sourced pipeline and partner-sourced activated merchants • Competitive and market intelligence for the department 3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES New Channel & Segment Development • Identify and validate adjacent verticals, categories and geographies with credible volume potential. The role builds channels rather than carrying an individual merchant quota; enterprise, government and financial-institution accounts route to the Enterprise & Government track. • Build the business case for each new channel: volume potential, unit economics, effort and risk. • Run controlled pilots before requesting scaled investment; kill non-performing channels early. Partnership Origination & Management • Source and develop partnerships with e-commerce platforms, agencies, fulfilment providers, associations and payment providers. • Structure partnership models — referral, reseller, embedded and co-marketing — with clear commercial terms. • Manage partner onboarding, enablement and performance review; hold partners to agreed contribution. • Maintain a partner scorecard showing sourced pipeline, activated merchants and delivered volume. Technology & Platform Integrations • Identify integration opportunities that reduce merchant onboarding friction and increase platform reach. • Coordinate integration scoping with Product and Technology; represent the commercial case and priority. • Track integration-sourced merchant acquisition after launch.Proposal & Commercial Structuring • Prepare partnership proposals, business cases and commercial models for approval. • Coordinate legal review and ensure signed agreements are filed and tracked. • Use only verified product and service claims in all external material. Market & Competitive Intelligence • Maintain a current view of competitor propositions, pricing posture and market moves. • Provide monthly market intelligence to Commercial leadership with a recommended response.
