KEI runs colleges in engineering, law, management, science, healthcare and polytechnic education, along with a multi-specialty hospital.Through its skilling arm, KEI delivers government-funded, CSR-supported and fee-based skilling programs across West Bengal, Tripura, Meghalaya and other states, working with Sector Skill Councils and industry partners in healthcare, hospitality, electronics and manufacturing.ABOUT THE ROLEWe are looking for a Business Head – Skill Development to own the complete P&L of our skilling vertical across three revenue streams:- Government-sponsored skilling projects- CSR-funded programs- Paid, industry-linked certification coursesThis is a hands-on leadership role. We want a professional who has personally handled skilling projects end to end, from bidding and sanction through mobilisation, training, assessment, placement and final payment recovery.Reports to: President & Secretary, KEITravel: Frequent, especially to the North-EastKEY RESPONSIBILITIESP&L Ownership- Own annual revenue, margin and net contribution targets for the skilling vertical- Prepare the business plan, project-wise budgets and cost-per-candidate models- Track project-wise and centre-wise profitability monthly and fix underperforming centres or batchesCash Flow Management- Take full responsibility for the cash flow of each program: government, CSR and paid- Prepare monthly and quarterly cash-flow forecasts for every project- Plan working capital so every project stays funded through to completion, especially where payments come in tranchesAccounts Receivable and Claim Recovery- Own accounts receivable across all programs, especially government and CSR projects- Raise claims and invoices on time for every milestone: enrolment, training, assessment, certification, placement and retention- Ensure complete supporting documentation: attendance, assessment results, certificates, placement and retention proofs- Follow up with government departments, State Skill Missions and CSR funders on pending tranche releases- Reduce outstanding dues and receivables ageing- Submit utilisation certificates on time and coordinate with finance on reconciliation and auditsGovernment Projects- Identify, bid for and win projects under PMKVY, DDU-GKY, PM-AJAY, NAPS, State Skill Missions and similar schemes- Prepare proposals, DPRs and tender documents- Ensure full compliance with scheme guidelines, Skill India Digital/SDMS and other portals, and inspection normsCSR Programs- Build relationships with corporate CSR teams, PSUs and foundations- Design fundable CSR proposals with clear outcomes and impact metrics- Deliver CSR projects to agreed milestones and submit impact reportsPaid Programs- Launch and scale fee-based certification and upskilling courses- Design job-linked curricula with industry partners and Centres of Excellence- Drive enrolments and ensure fee collection as per scheduleEnd-to-End Operations and Placement- Oversee the full project cycle: centre readiness, mobilisation, training, assessment, certification, placement and post-placement tracking- Conduct regular field visits and keep every centre audit-ready- Achieve placement and retention targets as per scheme norms- Build employer networks across healthcare, hospitality, retail, electronics, manufacturing and logisticsCompliance and Partnerships- Maintain zero tolerance for malpractice and protect KEI's standing with every funding agency- Manage inspections, monitoring visits and audits- Manage relationships with Sector Skill Councils (THSC, HSSC, ESSC and others), NSDC and state departmentsTeam Leadership and Reporting- Lead project managers, centre heads, trainers, mobilisers, MIS and placement teams- Set targets, review performance and establish SOPs- Maintain a live MIS dashboard and present a monthly business review to the PresidentWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR- 10+ years in the skill development sector, with at least 4 years in a P&L or business-head role- Hands-on experience running skilling projects end to end, from sanction to final payment closure- Proven record of winning and executing government skilling projects (PMKVY, DDU-GKY or State Skill Mission)- Experience raising and managing CSR funding- Strong understanding of scheme financials, claims cycles and compliance- Track record of recovering receivables from government departments and CSR funders- Experience managing multi-state operations and large field teams- A professional, dedicated approach with high standards of integrity- Graduate/Postgraduate degree; MBA preferred- Experience in the North-East and knowledge of Bengali or Hindi are advantagesELIGIBILITY AND INTEGRITY CONDITIONS- Must not have worked with any organisation that has been blacklisted or debarred under any government or CSR skilling program- Must not personally have been named in any blacklisting, debarment or malpractice finding- Shortlisted candidates must submit a signed self-declaration and clear background verificationCOMPENSATION- Fixed monthly salary, commensurate with experience- Variable pay linked to project completion and payments actually received by KEI- Details of the variable structure will be shared with shortlisted candidatesSELECTION PROCESS1.
