Role Description The Associate Software Engineer is a part-time remote role focused on supporting the design, development, and maintenance of web and software solutions related to the forum’s activities and digital platforms. On a day-to-day basis, the role involves implementing back-end functionality, writing clean and maintainable code, participating in code reviews, and assisting in troubleshooting and debugging issues. The Associate Software Engineer will collaborate with other team members to translate requirements into technical specifications, contribute to small feature implementations, and help improve performance and reliability of existing systems. The role may also include integrating third-party APIs, supporting deployment processes, and documenting code and technical processes to ensure knowledge sharing within the team.QualificationsFoundational knowledge in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.Skills in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, with exposure to server-side frameworks and database integration.Programming proficiency in at least one modern language (such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#) and familiarity with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new tools and technologies, and follow best practices in version control (e.g., Git) and collaborative development.Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting while meeting agreed timelines.Effective communication skills and willingness to collaborate with students and professionals from diverse technical backgrounds.Currently studying or recently graduated in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.Experience with web APIs, basic cloud concepts, or participation in tech events, hackathons, or open-source projects is a plus.
