Apply & track with Apply EdgeA Power BI Developer is required to join the Business Intelligence function of an established organisation, operating as part of a FTSE-listed multinational group.This is a hands-on, business-facing role covering Power BI development, SQL, data modelling and Power BI administration.It would suit someone with around 2–3 years’ commercial BI experience who has built a strong technical foundation and is now looking for greater ownership, autonomy and the opportunity to broaden their experience across the wider data environment.The roleWorking within a fast-paced, commercially focused environment, you’ll have direct contact with stakeholders across the business and take responsibility for turning their requirements into effective BI and reporting solutions.Key responsibilities will include:Developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards, reports and KPI reportingWriting, troubleshooting and optimising SQL queriesDeveloping DAX measures and Power QueryBuilding and maintaining effective data modelsSupporting the administration of the Power BI environmentWorking directly with stakeholders to understand reporting and data requirementsTranslating business requirements into practical BI solutionsMonitoring and improving report and query performanceWorking with data warehousing and dimensional / star-schema modelsSupporting data governance, security and access controlsTaking ownership of BI requirements from initial discussion through to development and deliveryAbout you:Around 2–3 years’ commercial Power BI / BI experienceStrong Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service skillsStrong hands-on SQL experienceExperience with DAX and Power QueryA good understanding of data modelling and data warehousingThe ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholdersA proactive approach and the confidence to take ownership of your workExperience with Python would be beneficial.Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, DevOps or deployment pipelines would also be useful, but isn’t essential.Why this role?This is an opportunity to move into a position with more ownership than a typical Power BI development role.You’ll be working in an environment where BI is closely connected to the wider business and operational decision-making, giving you:End-to-end ownership of BI requirements, from initial stakeholder conversations through to development and deliveryDirect exposure to multiple business functions, rather than working solely within a technical or reporting teamA broader technical remit across Power BI, SQL, data modelling and platform administrationThe opportunity to build on your existing BI experience and develop further into data engineeringExposure to an evolving Microsoft data environment, with potential involvement in Azure Data Factory and Microsoft FabricThe backing and stability of a FTSE-listed multinational group, while working in a role with genuine visibility and impact within the businessThe wider data environment is continuing to develop, so there should be good scope to increase your technical exposure and take on additional responsibility over time.Location & package£38,000–£42,000 + benefitsThe role is based in South Birmingham, with hybrid working and an expectation of being on site 2–3 days per week (additional days dependant on workloads)Candidates based across South Birmingham, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the wider West Midlands would be well located.A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.Applicants must have the right to work in the UK on a permanent and ongoing basis.Please note that the company is unable to offer visa sponsorship, either now or in the future, so candidates must be able to continue working in the UK without requiring future employer sponsorship.
