Our team comes from Apple, Twitter, and Amazon. Our physicians trained and practiced at Columbia, Einstein, Harvard, Mount Sinai, Memorial Sloan Kettering and other leading medical institutions. Together we're building the company at the intersection of world-class medicine and AI-native engineering. We're backed by leading investors including Village Global, HOF Capital, and Oncology Ventures. We believe everyone wants the best medicine. We run a first-class business in a first-class way, and we hire people who want to be part of a team that expects to win.Join us in our mission to deliver life-changing care to more people in more places. We're looking for a Business Operations Lead to join our team, reporting directly to the CEO. Based in New York City. This is a founding seat, the first owner of Tono's operating system and leveling is flexible: for the right person, it carries the Head of Business Operations title and mandate from day one. We level on demonstrated judgment, not years on a resume.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY. You will own the performance of the Tono system end to end: how fast patients get to care, how full and how valuable our doctors' calendars are, how reliably patients show up, come back, and refer, how referring physicians become loyal channels, and how our cost of acquisition falls as the flywheel spins. You'll define the company's metric tree, run the weekly scoreboard that drives our leadership operating meeting, name the binding constraint each quarter, and run the experiment queue that attacks it.This is not a dashboards job and it is not a decks job. It is an ownership job with an analyst's toolkit: you pull your own data, build your own models, ship the semi-automated version of a fix yourself, and hand our engineers ranked, ROI-attached specs for the versions that deserve real product. You are the first dedicated hire on this problem, you work directly with the CEO, and the function gets built in your image. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, work hard, and be challenged in a fast-growing, early-stage company. You'll work closely with the CEO on the core issues that determine whether Tono wins. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, eager to learn, and ready to help shape the future. You'll work alongside top-tier talent and measure your own capabilities. While this isn't your typical 9-to-5, at Tono, we are a meritocracy, and the sky's the limit. What You'll OwnThe metrics and weekly scoreboard — single source of truth for utilization, revenue per clinical hour, time-to-care, show rates, rebooking, referral loops, prior-auth turnaround, and blended CAC, each paired with its clinical quality guardrail. The constraint of the quarter — diagnose the binding bottleneck in the system, focus the company on it, and run the experiment portfolio against it with clean measurement.Capacity and demand matching — licensure-aware capacity planning across 33+ states; steering demand to where supply sits idle.Channel economics — LTV:CAC by channel and cohort, and the math behind growing the earned share of new patients.Partner and program performance — per-partner scorecards for health system and cancer center integrations; cost-per-confirmed-patient and funnel analytics for pharma programs.Revenue mechanics with Clinical Ops — prior-authorization turnaround, no-show engineering, rebook-at-checkout adoption, referrer closed-loop SLAs.Your First 90 DaysThe scoreboard is live: metrics defined, baselined, and reviewed weekly in the leadership meeting. The first constraint is named, with two to three experiments running and honestly measured.Referring-physician report cards and the show-rate ladder are shipping, built by you, before any engineering time is spent.Experience4–9 years in marketplace strategy & operations (Uber, DoorDash, Instacart, or similar), healthcare-services business operations. Title, scope, and compensation scale with what you bring, a 5th-year operator who performs like an owner will be leveled like one. Most importantly: a proven bias to action, the drive to own a number rather than present about one, and a record of making things happen through people outside your reporting line.Functional Expertise: A "spike" in one or more of marketplace operations, growth and channel economics, healthcare operations, or product analytics.Analytical & Communication Skills: Exceptional at modeling, synthesizing data, and turning insights into decisions. You work directly in the data: AI can write much of the SQL, you can read it, audit it, and tell when a number is lying. You define metrics precisely, build your own dashboards, and use modern AI tooling aggressively to ship without waiting on anyone. Able to communicate complex ideas with precision, to executives, physicians, and partners alike.Personal CharacteristicsRelentless Drive for Excellence: Holds themselves and others to the highest standards, continually seeking improvement and delivering exceptional results.Desire to Work with the Best: Motivated by collaborating with top-tier talent in a high-performance, mission-driven environment.Startup Mindset: Positive, curious, adaptable, and driven to make a significant impact in a fast-paced environment.Bias to Action: Comfortable with ambiguity and urgency, with a natural inclination to roll up your sleeves and get things done.Integrity and Trust: A trusted confidant to the founders, able to handle sensitive information and make decisions aligned with Tono's values.Compensation and BenefitsTarget Salary: $130,000–$200,000+, commensurate with experience and levelFounding-team equity, scaling with levelMedical benefitsPriority access for your family to leading dermatologist and regular cosmetic nights at our flagship clinicGrowth opportunities in a fast-scaling, mission-driven organizationLocation: New York City
