Cabling Technician

Role Description This full-time Cabling Technician role at VERITAS Technology CFM is an on-site position based in the Doha Metropolitan Area. The Cabling Technician installs, pulls, terminates, and tests structured cabling systems for data, cctv, and network infrastructure (cooper and optical fiber) in commercial and industrial environments. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting technical drawings and floor plans, routing and securing cables, labeling and documenting installations, and using tools and test equipment to verify cable performance and compliance with standards. The role also involves troubleshooting cabling issues, performing maintenance and repairs, coordinating with project managers and other trades on-site, and following safety and quality procedures. The Cabling Technician is expected to meet project timelines, maintain organized work areas, and provide clear status updates to supervisors and clients.Qualifications Strong practical skills in structured cabling installation, termination, and testing, including work with copper and fiber optic cables.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and building layouts for planning cable routes and network points.Proficiency with hand tools and test equipment (e.g., cable testers, crimpers, punch-down tools, fiber termination tools) and safe tool usage.Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for cabling (e.g., structured cabling standards, labeling conventions, and documentation methods).Experience troubleshooting cabling faults, diagnosing connectivity issues, and performing corrective maintenance in live environments.Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams, contractors, and clients on-site.Physical ability to work in various environments, including ceilings, confined spaces, and ladders, and to handle moderate lifting.Attention to detail, commitment to safety procedures, and ability to follow company policies and quality guidelines.Previous experience in cabling or low-voltage installation preferred; vocational training or relevant technical certification is an advantage.Willingness to work standard and occasional extended hours based on project needs within the Doha Metropolitan Area.
