At SeaLink, we believe in connection and teamwork. People come and stay at SeaLink because of our“one boat, one team” approach. We may all have arrived on different ships, but we’re on the same boat together, working towards a common goal. Following a retirement within our People & Culture team, we’ve had the opportunity to re-scope this role to better support the needs of our people and business. The result is a varied, hands-on opportunity spanning capability development, organisational development, employee engagement, internal communications and culture. About the role: Reporting to and working closely with the Chief People Officer, the Capability & Organisational Development Advisor plays an important role in supporting the delivery of SeaLink’s people priorities. You’ll provide practical OD and capability expertise and work alongside the Chief People Officer, People & Culture team and leaders across the business to turn people priorities into well-designed, effectively delivered initiatives. Your work will help build capability, strengthen leadership and team effectiveness, support employee engagement and experience, and foster a positive and connected culture aligned with Our Way. This is a varied and hands-on role. You might be coordinating and delivering a leadership or development initiative, facilitating a workshop, supporting employee engagement activity, preparing internal communications, analysing survey feedback or workforce data, or developing practical tools and resources that help leaders and teams. You’ll also support the Chief People Officer with the delivery and coordination of broader culture, engagement, capability and employee experience initiatives, helping ensure activities are well planned, communicated, implemented and followed through. You’ll be joining a supportive People & Culture team where there’s always plenty happening. We genuinely work as one team, pitch in when needed and enjoy having some fun along the way. This is a part-time position working 32 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based on-site in the Auckland CBD. Building relationships and understanding our operational environment are important parts of the role, so you’ll also spend time across SeaLink sites as required. Key accountabilities include: Support the Chief People Officer with the delivery of SeaLink’s people, capability, culture and employee experience priorities. Design, coordinate, deliver and embed learning, leadership and capability initiatives aligned with identified business needs. Work with leaders to understand learning and capability needs and develop practical solutions that support individual and team performance. Deliver engaging workshops, leadership programmes and development activities that build capability across the business. Support the delivery of organisational development initiatives across areas such as team effectiveness, talent and succession planning, wellbeing, inclusion, organisational and role design, and employee experience. Support activities that foster and reinforce SeaLink’s culture and Our Way, helping translate our values and expected ways of working into practical initiatives, resources and employee experiences. Coordinate and deliver employee engagement activities, including employee surveys, feedback processes, action planning and initiatives that strengthen connection across the business. Support internal communications, working with the Chief People Officer and other stakeholders to develop and coordinate clear, timely and engaging people communications. Manage and continuously improve established people programmes and activities, including Recognition & Reward, the Employee Experience Network Group, employee surveys and action planning, internal communications and the Social Club. Provide practical coaching, guidance, tools and resources to help leaders build capability, strengthen their teams and support positive employee experiences. Analyse workforce, learning, engagement and wellbeing information to identify themes and provide useful insights to the Chief People Officer and leaders. Support the development and tracking of measures that help evaluate the effectiveness of people initiatives. Manage the end-to-end coordination and delivery of initiatives owned by the role, including planning, stakeholder engagement, communications, logistics and follow-through. Work collaboratively with the wider People & Culture team to ensure people initiatives and communications are coordinated and consistent. To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills, knowledge and qualifications: A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Organisational Development, Psychology, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. 4+ years’ experience across organisational development, learning, leadership development, employee experience and engagement, including at least 2 years in an Organisational Development Advisor or similar role. Demonstrated experience designing, coordinating and delivering learning, organisational development, engagement or other people-focused initiatives. Experience supporting employee engagement, culture and employee experience programmes. Experience developing clear and engaging internal communications for different employee audiences. Strong facilitation capability and confidence delivering workshops and development activities. Experience working directly with leaders to understand needs and develop practical, fit-for-purpose solutions. Strong planning, coordination and delivery skills, with the ability to keep multiple activities moving and follow through on commitments. Confidence working with employee feedback, survey results and workforce data and translating information into clear insights and actions. Sound organisational development and learning knowledge, combined with a pragmatic and practical approach. Strong relationship and communication skills, with the confidence to work with people at all levels of the organisation. The ability to work with a good degree of autonomy while remaining aligned with the direction and priorities set by the Chief People Officer. Ability and willingness to travel across SeaLink sites as required. What’s in it for you? Competitive remuneration. An opportunity to step into a newly re-scoped role and contribute across a broad range of people, capability and organisational development initiatives. The opportunity to work closely with and support the Chief People Officer, with exposure across the breadth of the organisation. The opportunity to work for a company that cares about its people.
