Its flagship vessel, the Mireio, is a modern, fully glazed and air-conditioned cruise boat with panoramic decks, hosting up to 200 passengers in a comfortable and elegant atmosphere. The company provides lunch and dinner cruises with seasonal menus featuring fresh, local products, as well as private events such as seminars, celebrations, and corporate functions. Guided discovery cruises highlight the Rhône’s landscapes, wildlife, and history, departing just a short walk from Avignon’s historic center.Role Description The Capitaine is responsible for safely operating and navigating passenger vessels on the Rhône, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and internal procedures. This full-time, on-site role in Avignon includes managing crew activities, overseeing embarkation and disembarkation, and ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers throughout each cruise. The Capitaine coordinates with hospitality and kitchen teams to align navigation with scheduled lunch, dinner, and event cruises, including private charters and themed excursions. The role involves monitoring weather and river conditions, supervising vessel maintenance checks, and keeping accurate logs and documentation. Daily responsibilities also include providing clear information to passengers, representing the company professionally, and supporting the smooth organization of special events on board.Qualifications Strong ship handling and river navigation skills, with proven experience operating passenger vessels on inland waterways.Solid knowledge of maritime safety regulations, emergency procedures, and vessel maintenance basics.Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse passenger groups.Team leadership capabilities, including supervising crew, coordinating with catering and event staff, and handling operational issues calmly.Fluency in French; working knowledge of English or other languages is an asset for international guests.Recognized captain’s license and all required certifications for commercial river navigation in France.Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in line with cruise schedules.Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, or event-based navigation is highly desirable.
