TRole DescriptionThe Captain / 1st Officer is responsible for the safe, efficient operation of the assigned vessel, ensuring compliance with all maritime safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. This full-time role includes planning and executing voyages, overseeing navigation, monitoring vessel performance, and coordinating bridge and deck operations. The role involves supervising crew members, conducting safety drills and inspections, maintaining logs and operational documentation, and managing communication with port authorities, clients, and shore-based teams. The Captain / 1st Officer will support deep-sea research and charter activities by coordinating vessel positioning, deck operations, and equipment handling, while responding effectively to changing offshore conditions. The position also requires continuous attention to risk management, operational readiness, and the upkeep of vessel systems in cooperation with engineering staff.VesselFlag: San MarinoWork Boat with 295 GT I 33mMain Engine: Wärtsilä, 6-cylinder, 730kWMSM: 3, PAX: 8QualificationsValid und unrestricted STCW Certificate of Competency as Master or Chief Mate, with no geographical limitations and suitable for the vessel.Proven experience in vessel navigation, voyage planning, bridge watchkeeping, and use of modern navigation and communication systems.Demonstrated capability in crew leadership, team coordination, and promoting a safety-focused, respectful working environment.Experience with offshore operations, deep-sea or research missions, including safe handling of deck equipment and support for scientific activities.Solid understanding of safety management systems, emergency response procedures, and environmental protection practices at sea.Strong organizational and documentation skills, including maintaining logs, reports, and compliance records.Effective communication skills in English; additional language skills and familiarity with international crews are beneficial.Ability to work in demanding marine environments, with high situational awareness and sound decision-making under pressure.Willingness to participate in ongoing training and certification updates; prior experience in charter or research-focused shipping operations is an advantage.If you are available immeditely or know a suitable candidate, please get in touch.
