Team members join a professional environment that values reliable leadership, cooperation, and continuous improvement.Role Description The Captain will have overall command and responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of a small expedition cruise vessel, including navigation, ship handling, and compliance with international and company regulations. Day-to-day duties include leading the bridge team, overseeing voyage planning, monitoring weather and sea conditions, ensuring safety drills and emergency preparedness, and supervising deck operations such as mooring, anchoring, and tender activities. The Captain will collaborate closely with other senior officers and department heads to deliver an excellent guest experience, uphold environmental standards, and maintain vessel integrity. Responsibilities also include performance management of bridge personnel, clear communication with shore-based management, and accurate reporting and documentation. QualificationsValid Master Mariner (Unlimited) license and required STCW certifications, with documented experience as Captain or senior officer on passenger or expedition vessels.Strong ship handling and navigation skills, including experience in challenging waters and expedition-style operations (e.g., polar or remote regions).Proven leadership and crew management abilities, including team coordination, performance coaching, and fostering a respectful, inclusive working environment.Thorough knowledge of maritime safety, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and other relevant regulations, with a strong safety and environmental protection mindset.Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written; additional language skills are beneficial in an international guest environment.Strong organizational and decision-making skills, with the capacity to remain calm and effective under pressure and in emergency situations.Previous experience in expedition cruising or small-ship operations, and familiarity with guest interaction and hospitality standards, is a strong advantage.
