Apply & track with Apply EdgeWe are seeking a Category Buyer responsible for the strategic sourcing, procurement, and supply of construction materials, equipment, and services for construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of construction and MEP systems, enabling effective coordination with project teams, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors. The role will manage sourcing across global markets, including the USA, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, ensuring all procurement activities meet technical specifications, commercial objectives, quality standards, budget requirements, and project schedules.Roles & Responsibility Procurement & Category ManagementManage procurement activities for a broad range of construction project requirements.Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned categories.Lead RFQs, tenders, commercial negotiations, and supplier selection processes.Ensure procurement activities are aligned with project schedules and budget objectives.Identify opportunities for cost reduction, value engineering, and supply chain optimization.Construction & Technical ProcurementReview technical specifications, engineering drawings, material submittals, equipment schedules, and BOQs to ensure compliance with project requirements, technical standards, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations.Liaise with engineering and project teams to evaluate technical and commercial proposals.Ensure procured materials and equipment meet project specifications, quality standards, and client requirements.Support material approvals, technical clarifications, and submittal reviews throughout the procurement lifecycle.Procure and Manage SupplyCivil construction materials, structural steel, fabricated items, and architectural finishes.Power generation, power distribution, electrical equipment, and infrastructure components.Fire detection, alarm, and fire suppression systems.HVAC systems and associated equipment.Mechanical systems, water supply distribution networks, plumbing, and sanitation materials.Industrial generators, transformers, switchgear, cabling, lighting systems, and controls.Tools, workshop equipment, maintenance materials, and project consumables.Supplier ManagementDevelop and maintain an international supplier network across the USA, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.Identify and qualify manufacturers, distributors, and specialist suppliers.Conduct supplier evaluations, audits, and prequalification assessments.Negotiate commercial terms, payment conditions, warranties, lead times, and contractual obligations.Monitor supplier performance and resolve quality, delivery, and commercial issues.Project SupportWork closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Construction Managers, and Site Teams to understand project requirements.Provide procurement guidance during project planning and execution phases.Monitor long-lead items and critical procurement packages.Identify procurement risks and implement mitigation strategies.Support project mobilization and startup activities.Logistics & Supply Chain CoordinationCoordinate with logistics providers and internal teams to ensure timely shipment and site delivery of materials.Monitor supplier production schedules and delivery milestones.Support customs clearance, import/export documentation, and international freight coordination.Assist in resolving supply chain disruptions and emergency procurement requirements.Commercial & Contract AdministrationPrepare commercial bid evaluations and award recommendations.Support the preparation, negotiation, and administration of purchase agreements and framework contracts.Ensure contractual compliance throughout the procurement lifecycle.Resolve supplier claims, variations, and commercial disputes where required.Reporting & SystemsMaintain accurate procurement records within ERP systems.Produce procurement status reports, expediting reports, and management updates.Track procurement KPIs, savings initiatives, and supplier performance metrics.Support internal audits, compliance reviews, and reporting requirements.Qualifications & Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related discipline.CIPS qualification or equivalent professional procurement certification is desirable.Minimum 8-10 years of procurement experience.Minimum 5 years' experience supporting construction, infrastructure, MEP, industrial, or EPC projects.Experience in EPC, Construction, US Navy/US Army Projects, US Defense Projects, UK Defense Projects, Oil & Gas, Mining, Infrastructure, or similar project environments is advantageous.Demonstrated experience sourcing from the USA, Europe, Asia, Middle East, and other international markets.Proven experience procuring a diverse range of construction, MEP, and technical equipment.Experience supporting remote or challenging project locations is highly desirable.If this describes you, then apply now, your next big adventure awaits!For immediate consideration email an updated resume to career@raints.com“At RA, we want to create an inclusive workplace, where we embrace differences and diversity.
