Middle School ELA Teachers play a critical role in helping students develop strong reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical-thinking skills. We seek teachers who can spark curiosity, foster a love of reading and writing, and equip students with strong literacy skills that influence their daily lives and academic success. They also help students develop the skills they need to be successful in high school, college, and in the workforce. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
- Deliver instruction and curriculum in the field of English Language Arts to middle school students.
- Design and implement lesson plans, assess student understanding and progress, and provide guidance and support to students.
- Teach and reinforce reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening, and literary analysis skills.
- Familiarity with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) for English Language Arts.
- Experience with the NJ State Exams for NJSLA English Language Arts.
- Staying current with the latest research and developments in literacy instruction and incorporating that knowledge into their teaching practice.
- Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
- Collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions.
- Guide and mentor students in academic and personal growth.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to promote interdisciplinary learning. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Education, or related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Valid NJ Teaching Certification.
- A deep understanding of the subject matter.
- Ability to effectively communicate knowledge to students.
- A strong background in English Language Arts, literacy, reading, and writing.
- Excellent teaching skills, including the ability to engage students, build positive relationships, and create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Have a responsibility to stay current with the latest research and developments in the field, and to incorporate this knowledge into their teaching.
- Experience teaching middle school English Language Arts curriculum.
- Familiarity with educational technology and e-learning platforms.
- Proven track record of improving student performance in English Language Arts.
- Membership in professional literary or educational organizations. Starting Salary: $65,050-$85,050
