Our distributed teams collaborate across EHS, Laboratory Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Facilities, Quality, Procurement, Logistics, Research & Development, Environmental Management, and Executive Leadership to ensure chemicals are selected, stored, handled, transported, and disposed of safely and compliantly.The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Chemical Safety Manager to lead chemical safety programmes, hazardous materials management, regulatory compliance, risk assessments, emergency preparedness, chemical inventories, and process safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will establish robust controls for chemical hazards while supporting safe operations, regulatory compliance, employee protection, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement chemical safety strategies, policies, procedures, standards, programmes, and governance frameworks aligned with organizational objectives and applicable regulations.Establish comprehensive chemical management programmes covering procurement, approval, inventory, labeling, storage, handling, transportation, use, monitoring, emergency response, and disposal.Maintain accurate chemical inventories and ensure appropriate classification, labeling, storage compatibility, segregation, and access controls for hazardous substances.Monitor applicable UAE and international requirements governing hazardous chemicals, occupational safety, environmental protection, dangerous goods, chemical storage, transportation, and emergency response.Conduct chemical hazard assessments, job safety analyses, risk assessments, exposure assessments, process hazard reviews, and laboratory or workplace inspections.Collaborate with EHS, Laboratory Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Facilities, Quality, Procurement, Logistics, Research & Development, Environmental Teams, Legal, and Executive Leadership.Establish chemical approval and management-of-change (MOC) processes for new chemicals, processes, equipment, facilities, and operational changes.Develop and maintain safety data sheet (SDS) systems, chemical labeling programmes, hazard communication procedures, chemical compatibility matrices, storage standards, and emergency information.Oversee hazardous chemical storage areas, laboratories, warehouses, process areas, gas-cylinder storage, chemical cabinets, bulk storage systems, spill-control equipment, and emergency response resources.Develop chemical spill prevention and response programmes, emergency procedures, evacuation protocols, exposure response plans, and incident management frameworks.Lead investigations of chemical incidents, exposures, spills, fires, releases, near misses, unsafe conditions, and regulatory deviations using structured root-cause analysis.Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) including chemical incidents, exposure events, inspection findings, corrective-action closure, training completion, inventory accuracy, SDS availability, chemical approval compliance, spill frequency, and audit performance.Manage chemical waste programmes covering segregation, labeling, storage, transportation, treatment, recycling, disposal, manifests, and environmental compliance.Oversee contractor and supplier chemical safety requirements, including prequalification, chemical documentation, risk assessments, transport controls, storage requirements, and emergency procedures.Develop chemical safety training programmes covering hazard communication, PPE, chemical handling, storage compatibility, spill response, laboratory safety, compressed gases, hazardous waste, emergency response, and regulatory requirements.Manage occupational exposure monitoring and industrial hygiene programmes for hazardous chemicals, including air monitoring, exposure assessments, control verification, and appropriate engineering or administrative controls.Support process safety initiatives involving hazardous chemicals, including process hazard analysis (PHA), HAZOP, layer of protection analysis (LOPA), combustible dust assessments, chemical reaction hazards, and safety-critical controls where applicable.Manage chemical safety budgets, external consultants, industrial hygiene services, laboratories, testing providers, emergency response contractors, training providers, software platforms, and specialist resources.Drive digital transformation through artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted chemical hazard identification, automated SDS management, predictive risk analytics, digital chemical inventories, exposure monitoring, compliance tracking, and intelligent incident analysis.Utilize Sphera, Enablon, Intelex, Cority, VelocityEHS, EcoOnline, SAP, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, Tableau, chemical inventory platforms, SDS management systems, and EHS technologies.Prepare executive chemical safety reports, exposure assessments, compliance dashboards, incident investigations, risk assessments, audit findings, emergency preparedness reports, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.Lead, mentor, and develop chemical safety specialists, industrial hygienists, EHS professionals, laboratory safety personnel, environmental coordinators, and multidisciplinary teams while fostering a culture of chemical safety, accountability, scientific rigor, and continuous improvement.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.Master's degree in Chemical Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Chemical Engineering, Process Safety, EHS Management, or a related field is highly advantageous.Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, NEBOSH, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, process safety qualifications, or equivalent credentials are preferred.Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical safety, industrial hygiene, process safety, EHS, laboratory safety, hazardous materials management, or related roles.At least 2 years of experience managing chemical safety programmes, hazardous materials operations, industrial hygiene programmes, EHS teams, laboratories, manufacturing environments, or multidisciplinary safety initiatives preferred.Strong understanding of chemical hazard identification, chemical compatibility, SDS management, hazard communication, hazardous materials storage, industrial hygiene, exposure assessment, chemical waste management, emergency response, and process safety.Experience with Sphera, Enablon, Intelex, Cority, VelocityEHS, EcoOnline, SAP, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, Tableau, chemical inventory systems, SDS platforms, and EHS management technologies.Familiarity with AI-powered chemical risk assessment, automated SDS classification, digital chemical inventories, predictive exposure analytics, connected safety systems, automated compliance monitoring, and advanced EHS technologies is highly advantageous.Strong leadership, technical communication, risk assessment, incident investigation, regulatory interpretation, stakeholder management, project management, training, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple chemical safety initiatives while balancing worker protection, operational requirements, environmental responsibilities, regulatory obligations, emergency preparedness, budgets, timelines, and business objectives.Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with distributed EHS, laboratory, engineering, manufacturing, facilities, procurement, logistics, quality, and leadership teams, with occasional travel for site
