Chief Accountant

About The RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Chief Accountant to join our industrial manufacturing business. This role is pivotal in ensuring financial compliance, transparency, and accurate reporting in accordance with German accounting standards (HGB). Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will lead the accounting function, define financial policies, and oversee the preparation of monthly financial reports. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, international environment where precision and regulatory knowledge are essential to supporting operational and strategic goals.ResponsibilitiesDetermination and monitoring of accounting policySound knowledge of tax and commercial lawPreparation of monthly reports (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow)Preparation of data for the tax advisor for the calculation and submission of tax returnsEnsure compliance with local and international accounting standards and internal financial policies.Coordinate year-end closing activities and liaise with external auditors during audits.Manage general ledger activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.Monitor and manage company cash flow, working capital, and financial risks.Support budgeting and forecasting processes with reliable financial data and insights.Collaborate with internal departments (e.g. production, procurement) to align financial procedures with operational needs.RequirementsCompleted university degree in a relevant fieldTo have worked in a manufacturing environment is big preferenceSound knowledge of the principles of proper accountingConfident handling of German accounting regulations, in particular HGBAt least 3 years of professional experience as an accountant, ideally in a manufacturing companyExperience with MS Dynamics is an advantageFluent German, English at least at B2 levelKnowledge of Polish, Ukrainian or Russian is an advantage
