Apply & track with Apply EdgeOpen for Locals and Expats who are already in Erbil.Job PurposeResponsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the Erbil office, ensuring accurate financial records, timely closing and reporting, effective controls, proper cash and working-capital management, and compliance with company and statutory requirements.The role will support the CFO in financial reporting, project costing, budgeting, audit, tax compliance, and financial controls, with a strong focus on Oil & Gas operations.Key Responsibilities1. Accounting & ReportingManage daily accounting activities covering GL, AP, AR, cash/bank, inventory and fixed assets.Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in Odoo/ERP with appropriate supporting documents.Prepare monthly trial balance, P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow reports and account schedules.Complete monthly closing and ensure all accruals, prepayments, provisions and adjustments are properly recorded.Perform and review monthly bank, supplier, customer and balance-sheet reconciliations.2. Oil & Gas / Project AccountingMaintain accurate accounting records for Oil & Gas projects, contracts and trading activities.Monitor project revenue, direct costs, overhead allocation and profitability.Review project-related POs, supplier invoices, subcontractor costs, logistics costs and other operational expenses.Prepare project cost reports and highlight significant cost variances to the CFO.Ensure costs are allocated to the correct project, department, cost centre or business activity.3. Accounts Payable & ReceivableControl the P2P process, ensuring supplier invoices are properly approved before payment.Monitor customer invoicing, collections and outstanding receivables.Maintain accurate AP/AR ageing reports and follow up on overdue balances with relevant departments.Resolve supplier/customer account discrepancies and ensure timely reconciliations.4. Cash & BankMonitor daily cash and bank positions.Prepare cash-flow forecasts and payment schedules for CFO review.Review payment documentation and ensure compliance with the approved DoA.Maintain petty-cash controls and perform regular reconciliations.Monitor foreign-currency transactions and exchange differences.5. Inventory & Fixed AssetsReconcile Finance records with warehouse/inventory records.Support periodic physical inventory counts and investigate variances.Maintain accurate fixed-asset records, additions, disposals and depreciation.Ensure proper accounting treatment for equipment, materials and project assets.6. Tax, Statutory & AuditEnsure accounting records comply with applicable Iraq/Kurdistan Region tax and statutory requirements.Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors and relevant authorities as required.Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.Ensure timely submission of statutory requirements and closure of audit observations.7. Internal ControlsEnsure transactions comply with company policies, DoA and Finance procedures.Maintain proper segregation of duties and supporting documentation.Identify accounting/control weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.Monitor unusual or unsupported transactions and escalate them to the CFO.8. ERP / OdooEnsure accurate and timely use of Odoo Finance and related modules.Review integration between Finance, Procurement, Sales, Inventory and HR.Ensure proper account, cost-centre and project coding.Coordinate with IT/Odoo support to resolve system and workflow issues.9. Team ManagementSupervise and allocate work among the Erbil accounting team.Review accounting entries, reconciliations and reports prepared by team members.Ensure adequate backup coverage and continuity of accounting activities.Train and develop junior accounting staff.10. HQ CoordinationCoordinate closely with CFO and Dubai Finance/HQ on reporting, cash requirements, settlements, intercompany transactions and financial controls.Provide accurate financial information and supporting schedules within agreed deadlines.Support Finance during budgeting, forecasting and management-review activities.Required Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.8+ years of accounting experience, preferably with 3+ years in a senior accounting position.Oil & Gas / Oilfield Services / Energy / Trading experience is mandatory or strongly preferred.Experience in Iraq/Kurdistan Region is highly preferred.Strong experience in project accounting, cost control, AP, AR, inventory and bank reconciliation.Experience with Odoo or another ERP system.Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA or equivalent is an advantage.Advanced Excel skills.Key CompetenciesStrong accounting and analytical skills.High accuracy and attention to detail.Strong understanding of Oil & Gas/project accounting.Integrity and confidentiality.Ability to work under strict monthly closing deadlines.Strong coordination and communication skills.Ability to independently manage the Erbil accounting function while reporting to the CFO.Key KPIsTimely monthly financial closing and reportingAccuracy of financial statements and reconciliationsAP/AR ageing and collection performanceAccuracy of project costing and cost allocationCash-flow and bank reconciliation accuracyCompliance with DoA and internal controlsTax/statutory complianceAudit completion and resolution of findingsERP/Odoo data accuracyTimely submission of required reports to CFO/HQ
