Chief Accountant

Position SummaryThe Chief Accountant – Manufacturing Plant is the senior accounting leader for Shoefabrik's manufacturing operations in Long Hau, Long An, acting as the Registered Chief Accountant for the manufacturing entity.The role has full ownership of accounting, tax, compliance, and audit matters for the manufacturing entity, while providing strong leadership and governance for the plant's finance function. The role is based at Shoefabrik office, Trung Son Residential Area, HCMC, works closely with the Head of Finance, and requires fluent English communication. While primarily managerial, the role is hands-on for production costing, inventory accounting, reporting, forecasting, and complex matters.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Statutory Compliance

• Act as Registered Chief Accountant for the manufacturing entity in accordance with Vietnamese law
• Serve as the senior finance/accounting lead at the manufacturing facility, setting standards, policies, and controls for plant-level accounting
• Ensure full compliance with Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS), Law on Accounting and other relevant regulations applicable to manufacturing operations
• Take ultimate responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all accounting records at the manufacturing entity
• Establish and continuously improve internal controls and accounting governance at the plant
• Oversee and ensure timely monthly and annual financial closings for the manufacturing entity, and ensure timely and accurate submission of statutory reports to authorities
• Communicate and cooperate with commercial banks, customs, and State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) on matters related to the manufacturing entity
• Align plant-level statutory accounting with management and group reporting requirements
• Act as final reviewer and sign-off authority for the manufacturing entity's accounting outputsTax Leadership & Audit Management
• Hold full end-to-end responsibility for all tax matters of the manufacturing entity, including VAT, Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Foreign Contractor Withholding Tax (FCWT), and import/export-related duties
• Lead tax planning, compliance, and risk management for the manufacturing entity
• Manage and represent the manufacturing entity during statutory audits, tax audits, customs, and inspections
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and consultants on plant-related matters
• Support transfer pricing compliance and documentation (experience a plus)Management Reporting Support
• Prepare and review plant-level management reports for the Head of Finance
• Support forecasting, budgeting, financial planning and financial analysis for the manufacturing facility
• Remain hands-on for critical reporting, deadlines, and complex issues at the plantSystems & Process Improvement
• Oversee accounting systems (including ERP) and data integrity at the manufacturing entity
• Drive improvements in closing efficiency, reporting quality, and controls; develop workflow and system automation using latest technology
• Find process improvements and drive process automation by using new technology such as artificial intelligenceJob requirementsMandatory
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Vietnamese Chief Accountant Certificate (Ministry of Finance)
• Eligible to be registered as Chief Accountant under Vietnamese lawExperience
• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Chief Accountant in Vietnam
• Strong experience in foreign-invested manufacturing companies, ideally footwear, apparel, or light manufacturing, with hands-on plant/factory accounting exposure
• Extensive exposure to tax compliance, audits, and inspections, with exposure to transfer pricing a plus
• Solid, demonstrated experience in production costing, inventory accounting, and goods-flow control in a manufacturing environment
• Proven experience leading accounting teamsSkills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of VAS and Vietnamese tax regulations
• Solid understanding of production costing, inventory valuation methods, and manufacturing cost accounting
• Willing to travel regularly to the factory in Long Hau, Long An
• Leadership mindset with hands-on execution capability
• High integrity, accountability, and attention to detail
• Fluent English (spoken and written)
