Backed by an experienced executive team and a strong balance sheet, the company is investing heavily in its finance organization to support continued growth, operational excellence, and strategic initiatives.They are seeking a Chief Accounting Officer to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and oversee all accounting, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and controllership functions across the organization.About the RoleThis is a highly visible executive leadership opportunity responsible for leading the global accounting organization while partnering closely with the CFO, Treasurer, FP&A, Actuarial, Investments, Tax, and Operations. The Chief Accounting Officer will drive accounting strategy, strengthen internal controls, ensure regulatory compliance, and build scalable processes to support future growth, acquisitions, and new business initiatives.The ideal candidate is a proven insurance accounting executive with deep technical expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and experience managing large, high-performing accounting organizations.Key ResponsibilitiesLead all corporate accounting, financial reporting, SEC and statutory reporting, and controllership functions.Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), SEC reporting requirements, and NAIC regulations.Partner with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, capital planning, acquisitions, and new product launches.Provide oversight of external audits, regulatory examinations, and relationships with external auditors.Lead accounting policy, technical accounting research, and implementation of new accounting standards.Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and finance transformation projects.Develop and mentor a high-performing accounting organization while building scalable infrastructure.Partner with Treasury, Investments, Actuarial, Tax, FP&A, and Risk Management on cross-functional initiatives.Present financial results and accounting matters to executive leadership, the Audit Committee, and Board of Directors.QualificationsCPA required.Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's degree preferred).15+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.Significant insurance industry experience, including property & casualty, specialty, life, health, or reinsurance.Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), SEC reporting, and insurance regulatory requirements.Prior experience leading large accounting organizations.Big Four public accounting background strongly preferred.Proven experience with financial systems implementations, process improvements, and finance transformation initiatives.Outstanding executive communication and leadership skills.Why Join?Executive leadership position with direct visibility to the CFO and Board.Opportunity to shape the accounting strategy of a growing insurance platform.Highly collaborative executive team with significant investment in finance and technology.Exposure to acquisitions, capital markets activity, and enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.Strong culture emphasizing innovation, operational excellence, and professional development.Compensation & BenefitsBase Salary: $350,000–$500,000 (commensurate with experience)Annual Performance BonusLong-Term Equity Incentive ProgramComprehensive Medical, Dental & Vision Coverage401(k) with Company MatchGenerous PTO and Paid HolidaysHybrid Work ScheduleExecutive Benefits Package
