Chief AI Officer

RSP Group have been exclusively retained by a global engineering company with annual revenues exceeding $20 billion to appoint its Head of Data & AI.This leader will define and deliver the organisation’s Data & AI strategy across markets and functions. The remit combines business transformation, technical leadership and team development, with a focus on improving engineering delivery, operational performance and customer outcomes.Working with senior leadership, you will shape investment priorities, build capability and take successful initiatives from experimentation into operational use.Key responsibilitiesOwn the global Data & AI strategy, roadmap and delivery portfolio.Identify high-value opportunities across engineering, project delivery, operations and corporate functions.Lead analytics and AI initiatives through evaluation, implementation and adoption, with clear accountability for business outcomes.Strengthen data quality, ownership and accessibility across the organisation.Partner with Technology on architecture, platforms and build-or-buy decisions.Establish practical governance covering security, privacy, reliability and human oversight.Build and develop a multidisciplinary team, connecting expertise across global and local teams.Track investment, adoption and benefits, using evidence to decide which initiatives to scale, adapt or stop.Candidate profileSenior leadership experience in data, analytics or AI within a complex international organisation.A track record of delivering solutions with sustained adoption and measurable commercial or operational results.Technical credibility across modern data platforms, machine learning and generative AI.Experience shaping investment decisions, building strong teams and leading organisational change.The ability to influence senior stakeholders and connect technical decisions to business priorities.Curiosity about emerging technology, supported by critical judgement and a practical approach to delivery.Experience in engineering, industrial, infrastructure or project-led environments would be valuable.Leadership approachYou will bring a clear view of where data and AI can create value, alongside the willingness to test assumptions and change direction. You should be comfortable challenging senior stakeholders, making difficult prioritisation decisions and giving technical teams the clarity and autonomy to deliver.Location- Our client has offices throughout the US. You would be expected to be based in office and travel as needed.
