We are advertising this opportunity in New Zealand and welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates prepared to relocate.Reporting directly to the Accountable Manager, the Chief Engineer will hold responsibility for the safe, compliant and effective management of aircraft maintenance operations.Key responsibilitiesAdminister and control all aircraft maintenance activities.Manage and control maintenance documentation and technical data.Ensure compliance with applicable CASA airworthiness requirements.Act as the organisation’s principal engineering liaison with CASA.Report defects and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.Supervise, train and manage Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (LAMEs), Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) and other maintenance personnel.Oversee maintenance contractors and the standard of contracted work.Liaise with registered operators and their Maintenance Controllers on all engineering matters.Advise and liaise with the Accountable Manager on matters relating to the organisation’s Certificate of Approval.Acquire, amend and maintain the technical data, tooling and equipment required at each operating location.Maintain compliance with, and coordinate necessary amendments to, the organisation’s Quality and Procedures Manual.Manage personnel allocation and maintenance scheduling.Respond to discrepancies identified during surveillance or audits conducted by CASA or another relevant authority.Supervise and control the work performed by LAMEs and AMEs on each job.Ensure maintenance certification is completed in accordance with the CASA System of Certification, including applicable Schedule 6 requirements.Promote a strong culture of safety, regulatory compliance, accountability and continuous improvement.About youThe successful applicant will be an experienced aviation maintenance professional with demonstrated leadership ability and a thorough understanding of regulated aircraft maintenance operations.You will ideally have:Relevant aircraft maintenance engineering qualifications and licences.Significant experience in aircraft maintenance, including supervisory or management responsibilities.Sound knowledge of CASA regulations, airworthiness requirements and maintenance certification processes.Experience managing technical records, maintenance data, manuals and compliance systems.Strong leadership, planning and personnel-management skills.Experience communicating with aviation regulators, operators, contractors and senior management.A systematic approach to defect investigation, corrective action and quality assurance.High standards of professional judgement, integrity and attention to detail.The ability to satisfy any applicable CASA requirements or approvals associated with the position.The ability and willingness to relocate to Australia.Applicants should provide details of their current licences, ratings, qualifications, aircraft experience, Australian work rights and any relocation or sponsorship requirements.What we offerA senior, full-time leadership position within an Australian aircraft maintenance organisation.The opportunity to take responsibility for engineering standards and maintenance operations.A salary package negotiated according to the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.Relocation arrangements to be discussed with the preferred applicant.How to applyPlease submit your résumé and a covering letter outlining your qualifications, licences, relevant aircraft maintenance experience and suitability for the Chief Engineer position.Applications will be treated confidentially.
