One of the largest Holocaust museums in the country and one of only three American Alliance of Museums (AAM) accredited Holocaust museums, The FHM is dedicated to teaching members of all races and cultures to recognize the inherent worth and dignity of human life to prevent future genocides. The Museum boasts an outstanding collection of contemporary visual art, a large research library, a growing collection of artifacts, and was recently awarded Professor Elie Wiesel’s personal collection, doubling the size of the overall collection.The Florida Holocaust Museum seeks a visionary Chief Community Engagement Officer (CCEO) to serve as a key senior executive and strategic thought partner to the CEO. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CCEO will serve as the institution’s primary brand champion and, alongside the CEO, a chief public ambassador—cultivating and deepening relationships with policymakers, donors, community leaders, and other key stakeholders to expand the Museum’s reach and impact across Florida and across the nation.The CCEO will lead a high-performing team of Directors and Senior Directors overseeing Education, Visitor & Member Experience, Marketing, and Community Relations, integrating these functions into a cohesive strategy that strengthens the Museum’s visibility, drives visitation, expands earned revenue, and advances public policy efforts to secure critical government funding. Bringing a hospitality mindset to all aspects of engagement, the CCEO will translate FHM’s mission into meaningful connections with diverse audiences, connect the Museum’s work to current events, navigate complex and sensitive topics with diplomacy, and inspire understanding, dialogue, and action across a growing and dynamic community.The Florida Holocaust Museum is an equal opportunity employer, we aspire to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. We believe that building a workforce of the brightest people from the widest possible range of backgrounds can innovate and inspire and engage with the widest possible audience.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as a primary public spokesperson and ambassador for The FHM, representing the institution at high-profile community, civic, and national engagementsCultivate and steward strategic relationships with elected officials, policymakers, community partners, donors, and key influencers across Florida and nationallyLead, mentor, and align a high-performing community engagement leadership team across Education, Visitor & Member Experience, Marketing, and Community Relations, fostering collaboration and accountability toward shared institutional goalsOversee integrated marketing, public relations, brand strategy, and crisis communications to elevate, strengthen, and safeguard the Museum’s reputationPartner closely with the CEO and Board on institutional strategy, high-priority initiatives, external messaging, and complex and sensitive issuesApply a hospitality-driven approach to visitor and community engagement to increase visitation, expand earned revenue, and strengthen donor relationshipsLead public policy, government relations, and advocacy efforts to secure critical government funding for Museum education and programmingConnect the Museum’s mission, exhibitions, programs, and public activations to current events and contemporary issues, positioning The FHM as a relevant and trusted voice in public conversationQualifications & SkillsBachelor’s degree in a related field required10+ years of progressively responsible executive leadership experience in external relations, public relations, strategic marketing, community engagement, or a related fieldExceptional executive presence with outstanding public speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to build credibility and influence among senior leaders, Board members, and diverse stakeholdersExperience addressing antisemitism, bigotry, human rights, genocide prevention, or social impact issues preferredDemonstrated success in crisis management, public relations, and maintaining a steady, strategic, and nonpolitical institutional voiceProven experience in public policy, government relations, advocacy, and securing public funding or civic supportDemonstrated track record of applying a hospitality mindset to grow audiences, strengthen visitor and community engagement, and increase earned revenue year over year
