CHIEF ENGINEER

Chief Engineer – Oil/Chemical TankerWe are seeking an experienced Chief Engineer for an Oil/Chemical Tanker. The candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and management of all vessel machinery and engineering systems.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and supervise the Engine Department and ensure safe and efficient operation of all machinery.Ensure proper maintenance and reliability of main engine, auxiliary engines, boilers, pumps, cargo-related machinery and associated systems.Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, ISGOTT, Class, Flag and Company requirements.Maintain engineering records, planned maintenance systems, inventories and technical documentation.Monitor fuel, lubricating oil and spare-parts consumption and maintain cost-effective operation.Supervise repairs, maintenance, troubleshooting and overhauls, including coordination with shore-based technicians and service engineers.Support safe cargo operations and ensure proper operation of cargo-related machinery and systems.Ensure compliance with pollution-prevention requirements and maintain readiness for PSC, Flag and Class inspections.Conduct risk assessments, toolbox meetings and safety training within the Engine Department.Investigate machinery defects and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.

Requirements

Valid Chief Engineer CoC and relevant STCW certification.Previous experience as Chief Engineer on Oil/Chemical Tankers.Good knowledge of tanker safety, cargo operations and applicable statutory/Class requirements.Troubleshooting and maintenance management skills.Good communication and reporting skills.
