Or do you have a business idea in the sector you've always wanted to build, but couldn't justify giving up the security of a full-time role?Grattan Investment Group ("GIG") is looking for an experienced executive with the ambition and ability to build and lead a new business in the utilities, renewable energy, or water/wastewater sector.For the right candidate, with a credible business opportunity, GIG will provide the financial backing, strategic support and an initial two-year funding runway required to establish the business.Two Routes InThis isn't only about starting something brand new. If you already know a small supplier, subcontractor or business in the sector that you believe could be scaled significantly with the right backing, that's just as much what we're looking for.Start clean: build a new business from the ground up around a market opportunity you've identified.Scale a supplier you know: bring in a small supplier or subcontractor you already have a relationship with and believe has real potential to become a much bigger player, and lead its growth.The OpportunityRole: Founder & CEO of a new or scaled-up businessSector: Utilities, renewable energy, and water/wastewater — power, grid infrastructure, energy transition, water treatment and network infrastructure, or a specialist supplier/contractor serving these marketsSalary: €10,000 per month (€120,000 per annum) for the first two yearsBonus: Up to 25% of net profit, subject to agreed termsEquity: Opportunity to own up to 40% of the business, with the Founder/CEO contributing approximately 10% of the initial equity capital investedFunding: GIG investors to provide the balance of the agreed start-up capitalSupport: Active strategic and commercial support from experienced GIG founders, CEOs and investorsGovernance: Monthly Board meetings with participating GIG membersWe are interested in experienced individuals who:Have strong commercial, operational, technical or industry expertise in utilities, renewables or water/wastewaterHave demonstrated leadership abilityUnderstand a market, sector or customer problem where they see a credible business opportunityKnow a small supplier, subcontractor or business in the sector that they believe has real potential to scale significantlyAre prepared to commit full-time to building the businessHave entrepreneurial ambition but may have been reluctant to give up the financial security of mortgage and other commitmentsCan bring an existing supplier relationship, customer base, or sector network with themCandidates may already have a developed business idea, or simply have deep sector expertise and an opportunity — new or existing — they believe could be turned into a successful company.Founders Helping FoundersGIG is a group of business founders and former CEOs who invest their own capital in start-up and established businesses where their experience, skills and networks can help create value.GIG members previously backed an experienced executive who left an established career to build renewable-energy start-up Acel Energy — bringing in a supplier relationship he knew and believed could scale.
