Purpose of the JobThe CFO will oversee the financial strategy, performance, and risk management across the diversified portfolio of businesses, including Commercial Trading, Real Estate, Legacy Investments, and Group Shared Services. Reporting to the Group CFO, this role will provide financial leadership, manage the finance team, and ensure alignment with the Group’s strategic objectives. The CFO will also head Finance Shared Services, ensuring the integration of financial information across the Group’s operations.Job AccountabilitiesRisk ManagementLead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of financial, operational, and strategic risks across all business units.Collaborate with the Group CFO to create and implement a long-term risk mitigation strategy, driving a decreasing overall risk profile.Provide timely updates to the Group CFO on key financial risks, opportunities, and the health of the Group.Develop and implement an Authority Matrix across the Group.Strategy DevelopmentPartner with the Group CFO and senior leadership to develop both short-term and long-term strategies for the Group, aligned with the overall business objectives.Ensure the funding needs of the business are met to support the execution of the Group’s strategies and goals.Prepare and execute capital market transactions, ensuring that businesses are "investment ready" for future funding opportunities.Develop and implement strategies to support sustainable growth while optimizing return on investment across business units.Financial Metrics and Performance ManagementEstablish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure business unit and leadership performance, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.Lead benchmarking efforts, comparing the Group’s performance against industry competitors through financial analysis and corporate finance benchmarking.Oversee the development of management information systems to monitor KPIs and ensure consistent, accurate financial reporting across the Group.Manage financial reporting to ensure compliance with debt covenants and legal obligations.Provide financial modeling for M&A transactions, capital expenditure proposals, and other significant financial decisions.Develop business evaluation models to assess potential mergers, acquisitions, and capital expenditure projectsOperations and Operational ExcellenceEnsure the optimization of IT systems and processes to drive cost efficiency, operational excellence, and collaboration within the Group.Leverage synergies between the different business units, particularly within the Commercial Group, Procurement, and Warehouse divisions, to optimize operational performance.Foster a culture of continuous process and system improvements, identifying areas of cost-saving and operational enhancement.Oversee cash flow management, ensuring that cash is efficiently generated and managed across the Group.Optimize the Group’s financial leverage, ensuring that assets are fully utilized while minimizing financial costs.Ensure that policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place and consistently followed across the Group.Finance Shared ServicesLead Finance Shared Services, ensuring the efficient delivery of centralized finance support to all Group functions.Leadership and Team ManagementLead the finance team, ensuring alignment with corporate values, financial discipline, and best practices.Provide mentorship and professional development to senior financial staff, driving performance and ensuring alignment with the Group's strategic goals.Foster a high-performing team culture, focusing on financial discipline, transparency, and continuous improvement.Oversee recruitment, training, and development within the finance function, ensuring adequate resources to support operational and strategic objectives.Qualifications, Education, Experience & KnowledgeQualifications & EducationMaster's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent).ExperienceMinimum of 20 years of finance experience, with at least 5 years in a C-level financial leadership role overseeing large, complex organizations.Significant experience in commercial trading, real estate, and investment sectors, with expertise in financial strategy, risk management, and operational excellence.Proven track record in managing Finance Shared ServicesKnowledge & SkillsStrong financial management expertise, including cash flow, leverage, treasury managementExpertise in financial reporting, accounting standards, and compliance.Knowledge of corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and capital market transactions.Deep understanding of operational finance. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence senior management and drive strategic decisions.
