Our client is a Asian renewable-energy development platform, and owned by one of the world's largest infrastructure investors. It has grown from a distributed-generation solar business into a sizeable portfolio and growing. They are now expanding into onshore wind and battery storage and looking for a CFO to join as they move into the next level of growth.The RoleThe CFO owns the finance function end-to-end with accounting, tax, treasury, capital, planning, reporting and project finance for a multi-entity platform. The mandate is to build a finance engine that lets the platform scale.ResponsibilitiesPrepare monthly data packages and financial statements; deliver detailed financial planning, analysis and reporting for both local management and the investor.Build and maintain comprehensive financial models that reflect the latest business developments and plans, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to keep forecasts current.Own consolidation, controls, accounting and tax across 50–70 project companies, and make group reporting more efficient.Aggregating numbers meaningfully, surfacing abnormal areas early and reducing manual consolidation work, with automation where it helps.Spearhead financing initiatives, including project financing, refinancing and recapitalisation, working closely with the deals and construction teams.Manage financial assets and liabilities such as cash, debt and associated capital management plans.Lead the reporting workstreams requested by the investor.Oversee statutory financial reporting processes required by law, including financial and tax audit.Lead, develop and set standards for a technically strong finance team of 12–14 through three direct reports.Qualifications10+ years of professional experience at VP to SVP level, including leading a finance function or acting as its clear number two with direct reports.Deep understanding of financial accounting and Korean statutory reporting, including financial and tax audit; CPA or KICPA (or equivalent) preferred.A career grounded in Korea. International experience is welcome but should not make up the majority of the track record.Deep understanding of corporate capital management and debt financing.Ability to build and maintain detailed financial models that reflect the company's business status and plans.Fluency in English as the the role involves frequent communication with the investor's global teams and Korean.Ability to communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders, lead junior team members, multi-task and work to tight timelines under sustained pressure.Experience in renewable-energy or energy-infrastructure businesses and development projects, solar in particular.Experience in a private-equity or fund-backed portfolio company, or within an asset manager or infrastructure fund for familiarity with fund reporting, board engagement and lean operating models.Experience consolidating and reporting across many legal entities, and with finance systems or automation in that context.FitThis is a peer-led, high-energy environment where colleagues challenge one another and decisions move quickly. The right person is commercially minded, learns fast, is comfortable being challenged and challenging back, and will establish credibility quickly with a capable team. Candidates whose background leads them to expect a heavily staffed, hierarchical corporate model are unlikely to enjoy it.
