This one describes an event. PTS Data Center Solutions is a 30-year mission-critical MEP design-build and construction management firm. Our clients include NASA, Sandia National Laboratories, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Pfizer, and CyrusOne. In the past month alone, we signed $95 million in new design and construction awards, and we are positioned on pursuits an order of magnitude larger. National engineering and consulting firms have approached us about strategic partnership and majority investment, and we are preparing the company for that process deliberately andprofessionally. We are hiring the CFO who will lead it. Not inherit it mid-stream. Not discover it in year one. Lead it —from data room to close — with a contractual share of the transaction value, from day one. If you have taken a construction company through a sale before and the two years around that deal werethe best work of your career, this is that chapter again, from the beginning.About PTS / INTUVAPTS (operating as INTUVA) delivers integrated planning, design, engineering, construction, andcommissioning for data center and mission-critical facilities as a single accountable entity. Our federalfranchise spans DOE- and DOD-adjacent clients; our commercial work serves edge campuses andcolocation operators. We recently completed a company-wide migration from QuickBooks to NetSuiteand operate on percentage-of-completion accounting with disciplined monthly WIP reporting.Over nearly three decades, PTS has evolved into a multi-division organization delivering servicesacross data centers (INTUVA), energy (GRID7), and IT/cybersecurity/AI (Inspirica). Our teamssupport some of the world's most demanding environments where uptime, reliability, innovation, andoperational performance are critical. At PTS and across its divisions, we are guided by core values of accountability, integrity, leadership, and continuous improvement, and we are committed to building long-term relationships with our employees, clients, and partners. What You Will OwnLeadership of the finance and accounting organizationManage and develop our existing team — a controller, one full-time senior accountant, and two part-time accounting staff — and scale the function (project accounting, FP&A) as backlog converts.Transaction leadershipDirect sell-side readiness and execution end to end: build and maintain the data room, support the quality-of-earnings process, manage buyer diligence and Q&A, model earnout and working-capital structures, and drive the financial schedules of the definitive agreements alongside our advisors and counsel.Strategic finance for a scaling design-build contractorEverything a principal-level CFO owns: treasury and cash forecasting, banking and surety relationships (expanding bonding capacity ahead of billion-dollar pursuits is a first-year priority), risk and insurance, federal contract financial compliance (FAR cost principles, audit readiness), monthly close and WIP discipline, job-cost forecasting, annual planning, board-level reporting, and hands-on partnership with the founder and operations leadership on bid strategy and project economics.AI-Augmented FinancePTS is deliberately building an AI-augmented operating model across the company — from engineering design workflows to back-office operations — and finance will not be the department that lags it. We are looking for a CFO who treats AI as a working tool, not a talking point. You should bring demonstrated experience applying AI to automate and elevate finance and accounting work, such as:
- Automating routine accounting processes — AP/AR workflows, transaction coding, reconciliations, and elements of the monthly close — using AI-enabled tools within or alongside an ERP (NetSuite AI capabilities a plus).
- Using AI to accelerate analysis: WIP and job-cost variance review, cash forecasting, scenario modeling, and first-draft preparation of management reporting and board materials.
- Applying AI to the transaction workload itself — diligence document organization, data-room Q&A preparation, and contract and financial-schedule review support.
- Judgment about where AI belongs and where it does not: appropriate human review and controls, data confidentiality (especially on federal work), and audit-defensible processes. You will not need to build this alone — the founder is an active practitioner of these tools — but you will be expected to lead it within finance, and to develop the existing team's fluency rather than working around them. What You BringRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of senior finance leadership, including CFO or VP Finance of a construction, MEP, specialty contracting, or E&C firm in the $95M–$500M revenue range.
- Direct sell-side transaction experience: you have been the senior finance leader through a completed sale to a strategic or private-equity buyer, including QoE, diligence, and negotiation of earnout and working-capital terms.
- Mastery of percentage-of-completion accounting (ASC 606), WIP schedules, over/under-billings, retainage, change orders, and job-cost forecasting.
- Established surety and banking relationships and a track record of materially expanding a bonding program.
- ERP fluency — NetSuite strongly preferred — including experience stabilizing or pressure-testing a migration.
- A builder's approach to teams: you develop controllers and staff rather than replace them.Preferred
- Federal contracting exposure (DOE/NNSA national laboratories, NASA, DOD, or FAR-governed cost accounting and DCAA/DOE audit readiness).
- Data center, mission-critical, or energy infrastructure sector experience.
- CPA, CCIFP, or CMA credential; MBA a plus.
- Membership in CFMA (Construction Financial Management Association) or an equivalent professional network.
- Hands-on experience deploying AI tools in a finance or accounting function (see AI-Augmented Finance above).Leadership Style We Are Looking ForBeyond the technical résumé, this seat calls for a particular presence. We are looking for a Steward-Driver profile: Decisive. Direct. Rigorous. Composed. Accountable. This is someone who commits once the facts are in and doesn't relitigate; who says the hard thing plainly — to the founder as readily as to a buyer's advisors; whose numbers survive hostile scrutiny because the discipline was there before anyone asked; and who is the calmest person in a data room precisely because nothing in it is a surprise to them.Candidates are assessed against this profile using the Predictive Index, Kolbe A and Self-Assessment alongside our structured interview scorecard. Why This SeatFinance leaders who have been through an exit tend to say the same thing afterward: the deal years were the most consequential of their careers, and everything since has been administration. Almost no company recruits on its transaction — most hide it from candidates. We are doing the opposite, because the transaction is the job, and the right person will recognize that honesty as the first data point about how this founder operates. You will work directly with a hands-on founder-CEO, a strong operations second-in-command, and a finance team that knows the books — in a company whose end markets (AI-era data centers, federal mission-critical infrastructure) are experiencing the largest capital build-out in their history. The founder is an active builder with a broader portfolio of infrastructure and technology ventures beyond PTS; those ventures are supported by a separate team, so this role is dedicated entirely to PTS and all of its shareholders.Compensation$250,000 – $300,000 base + performance bonus + transaction participation-Annual performance bonus: up to 10% of base, tied to defined finance-organization and transaction-readiness milestones.-Transaction participation: a contractual success fee tied to enterprise value at closing, papered at hire and discussed candidly in the first conversation.-Full benefits package-401(k) with 4% company match-Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays-Ongoing training, certifications, and professional developmentHow to ApplySubmit a resume and a brief note describing the transaction you led: the size, the buyer type, and one thing the buyer's diligence found that you wish you had fixed first. That answer tells us more than a cover letter.Required Candidate AssessmentsAs part of our selection process, we ask all candidates to complete a comprehensive set of online assessment tools. These are brief, have no right or wrong answers, and help us understand natural working and decision-making styles so we can build the strongest possible partnership between this role, our founder, and our finance team.
