The next challenge is whether you want to inherit something already perfected — or shape what comes next.We are supporting a long-established international group in the appointment of its next Group CIO as part of a planned leadership succession. The organisation operates across multiple countries and industries, creating a technology landscape with a level of complexity few CIO roles can offer.This isn't about keeping the lights on.Reporting to the Group CFO and working closely with the Executive Committee, you will set the direction for technology across a diverse portfolio of businesses and international operations. Your challenge will be to create greater consistency without losing the flexibility individual businesses need to compete.There is already a foundation to build from. The next chapter will involve further modernising and standardising the technology estate, strengthening cybersecurity and resilience, improving enterprise data, and ensuring core business platforms can support continued growth.That means making strategic choices across ERP and CRM environments, cloud infrastructure, enterprise architecture and analytics while determining where automation and AI can deliver genuine business value. The current landscape includes Microsoft technologies alongside Azure and AWS environments, with an increasing focus on modern analytics, reporting and automation.Technology here touches very different operating models. You'll need to understand the commercial problem first, then determine where Group standards make sense and where local requirements demand a different approach.We’re looking for an established technology leader who has operated across complex, multi-country or multi-business environments. You will bring depth across transformation, enterprise applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data and technology governance — but just as importantly, the judgement to prioritise.You’ll inherit teams and partners across the organisation and have the mandate to shape the technology roadmap for the next stage of its development.For a CIO who enjoys complexity, this offers something unusual: significant international scope, direct executive influence and the opportunity to make technology a stronger connecting force across a highly diversified organisation.
