Chief Information Security OfficerLocation: Carlsbad, CA (Hybrid)Company: Lineation.AIFunction: Executive Leadership / SecurityLineation is building the security and governance layer for the agentic enterprise. As AI agents increasingly act across applications, infrastructure, data, and business workflows, organizations need a new security model—one designed not only to protect systems, but to control and understand autonomous actions.Lineation gives enterprises the ability to make AI agents controllable, observable, and accountable through identity, policy enforcement, runtime controls, guardrails, and auditability. We are building for a world where AI does not just generate - it acts.About LineationWe believe the future of work is not AI in a chat box. It is agentic workflows that plan, call tools, move data, and act across systems on behalf of people. That shift is already underway. What is still missing is an honest security layer that treats agents like what they are: privileged software with judgment, memory, and reach.Lineation exists to help enterprises secure autonomous AI before it becomes invisible infrastructure. We are building a unified control plane for policy, identity, risk, and auditability across models, tools, applications, and environments. Our approach is grounded in centralized governance with distributed enforcement, trusted lineage, and strict controls for high-risk actions without unnecessary friction. The OpportunityWe are seeking a forward-thinking Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to help define what security leadership looks like in the age of autonomous AI.This is not a conventional CISO role. You will sit at the intersection of cybersecurity, AI, product, enterprise trust, cloud security, data governance, and go-to-market strategy. You will help shape Lineation’s internal security posture while also serving as a strategic voice with customers, partners, and the broader market. The right leader understands traditional enterprise security deeply, but is energized by the security problems that traditional controls were never designed to solve: agent identity, delegated permissions, runtime tool use, autonomous actions, dynamic data movement, and cross-system accountability. What You’ll LeadAI and Agentic Security StrategyHelp define Lineation’s point of view on securing autonomous and semi-autonomous AI systems.Translate emerging threats involving agent identity, permissions, tool access, model behavior, data movement, and autonomous actions into practical security strategies and product priorities.Develop security principles for how AI agents should be governed in enterprise environments, including default-deny approaches for high-risk actions and clear override paths.Anticipate where enterprise AI security is going, not simply where it is today.Product Security and Security ArchitecturePartner closely with Engineering and Product to ensure security is part of how the platform is designed, not a layer added afterward.Provide leadership across AI agent identity and authentication.Guide runtime security and policy enforcement design.Shape authorization and least-privilege access models.Influence secure connectors and integrations.Oversee secrets and credential management practices.Strengthen data protection, isolation, and governance architecture.Drive logging, observability, and auditable lineage.Lead threat modeling and secure development practices.Own cloud and infrastructure security across modern SaaS and cloud-native environments.Cloud Security LeadershipOwn the security strategy for Lineation’s cloud infrastructure, services, environments, and deployment architecture.Guide decisions around secure cloud configuration, workload isolation, identity boundaries, network controls, secrets handling, resilience, and incident containment.Partner with platform and engineering teams to embed secure-by-default patterns into cloud operations and deployment workflows.Evaluate cloud risk in the context of AI-native workloads, third-party model providers, data processors, and enterprise integrations.Data Governance and Data SecurityEstablish Lineation’s approach to data governance across customer data, telemetry, audit logs, model inputs and outputs, and operational metadata.Define policies and controls for data classification, access, retention, residency, lineage, and egress.Ensure the company can clearly answer customer and regulator questions about what data is collected, where it flows, who can access it, and how it is protected.Shape product capabilities that make data use visible, enforceable, and auditable in real time.Enterprise TrustOwn and continuously strengthen the security posture required to earn the trust of sophisticated enterprise customers.Lead the company’s approach to security assurance, risk management, incident readiness, customer security reviews, and control maturity.Support and mature relevant frameworks such as SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001, and HIPAA.Build programs that are rigorous without creating unnecessary friction for a fast-moving company.Customer and CISO EngagementServe as a trusted security executive in conversations with CISOs, security architects, risk leaders, compliance stakeholders, and enterprise technology teams. You will help customers answer critical questions such as:What is this AI agent allowed to do?Who authorized it?What systems can it access? How do we control its behavior? What happens when it does something unexpected? Can we prove exactly what happened? You will also bring those conversations back into the company to influence roadmap, positioning, architecture, and trust strategy.Security Thought LeadershipHelp establish Lineation as a defining voice in agentic AI security.Partner with leadership and Marketing on security research, industry perspectives, customer education, events, and executive-level narratives.Contribute to a market point of view that is technically credible, operationally serious, and commercially relevant. What We’re Looking ForYou bring meaningful leadership experience across cybersecurity, product security, cloud security, security architecture, or enterprise security. More importantly, you think beyond inherited models and recognize that autonomous systems introduce security questions that existing architectures were never built to answer.Senior security leadership experience in a technology, SaaS, cloud, cybersecurity, or AI environmentStrong understanding of modern application, infrastructure, and cloud security architectureExperience working closely with engineering teams on security-sensitive productsDeep knowledge of identity, authorization, APIs, integrations, runtime controls, and data securityDirect experience with cloud security strategy, controls, and operational governanceStrong command of data governance principles, including lineage, retention, access management, and auditabilityFamiliarity with AI/ML security, LLM applications, AI agents, or emerging agentic architecturesExperience engaging enterprise CISOs, security teams, and risk stakeholdersWorking knowledge of modern security and compliance frameworksAbility to translate complex technical risk into clear executive and customer conversationsStrong technical judgment combined with commercial awareness and product instinctYou’ll Thrive Here If You…Think like a builder. You would rather design the security model than inherit one.Challenge assumptions. You recognize that autonomous systems create new threat models, new control requirements, and new governance expectations. Can move between worlds. You are equally comfortable with engineers, founders, enterprise buyers, CISOs, and executive teams.Operate with speed and judgment. You know the difference between security rigor and security bureaucracy.Care about proof. You value auditability, observability, and lineage that customers can trust.Want to define a category. Helping establish the security model for enterprise AI agents is more compelling to you than maintaining yesterday’s playbook. Why LineationThe enterprise technology stack is undergoing a fundamental shift. Software historically waited for humans to tell it what to do. AI agents increasingly make decisions and take actions independently. That changes the security model.Organizations will need visibility into every agent, control over what each agent can do, policies governing how agents operate, and evidence of every action taken.Lineation is building that control layer. As CISO, you will have the opportunity to help define both how we secure our company and how enterprises secure the next generation of autonomous technology.Controllable. Observable. Accountable.Location: Hybrid Onsite/Remote - HQ based in Carlsbad, CASalary: $235K - 275K Salary / Benefits / Bonus / Equity
