Team members are encouraged to uphold high standards of seamanship, safety, and integrity while contributing to reliable maritime operations.Role Description The Chief Officer is a Marine Deck Officer, responsible for overseeing deck operations and serving as second-in-command to the Master. Daily tasks include planning and supervising cargo operations, managing deck crew, and ensuring that all safety, security, and environmental procedures are strictly followed. The Chief Officer leads the implementation of the vessel’s safety management system, conducts drills, maintains emergency equipment, and oversees navigational watch as assigned. The role also includes maintaining deck maintenance schedules, updating relevant documentation and logs, coordinating with technical and shore-based teams, and supporting the Master in voyage planning, compliance with international and local regulations, and overall vessel management.QualificationsValid Chief Officer license or equivalent maritime certification, with sea-going experience at officer level.Strong knowledge of shipboard operations, cargo handling, navigation, and international maritime regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, ISM Code).Good experience in Bulk and Container cargo, minimum 3 years in the position.Demonstrated leadership skills in managing diverse crew members, with the ability to train, mentor, and evaluate performance.Proficiency in safety management, emergency response, and risk assessment, with a solid track record of enforcing safety standards.Effective communication and coordination skills for working with shipboard and shore-based stakeholders, including reporting and documentation.Ability to work in demanding shipboard environments, make sound decisions under pressure, and maintain professionalism at all times.Completion of relevant safety and specialization trainings (e.g., Bridge Resource Management, Advanced Firefighting, Crowd and Crisis Management) is an advantage.
