About MicroaviaMicroavia is a Dubai-based technology company developing advanced autonomous systems and drone solutions for commercial and government applications.As we continue to develop our technology and expand our product portfolio, we are looking for an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to take ownership of Microavia’s technology strategy, engineering organization, and product development.The RoleThe CTO will be responsible for defining and executing Microavia’s technology vision and ensuring that our engineering capabilities support the company’s commercial and strategic objectives.This is a senior leadership role combining technology strategy, product development, engineering leadership, and end-to-end project ownership. We are looking for someone who can operate at both strategic and technical levels — setting the direction while remaining close enough to the engineering organization and products to drive execution.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnology Strategy & LeadershipDefine and execute Microavia’s technology strategy, architecture, and long-term roadmap.Translate business and customer requirements into clear technology and product priorities.Identify new technologies and development opportunities that strengthen our products and competitive position.Advise the CEO and executive team on technology-related investments, priorities, risks, and opportunities.Product Development & EngineeringOwn the end-to-end development lifecycle of Microavia’s technology and products, from concept and architecture through development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.Ensure engineering solutions are robust, scalable, reliable, and aligned with customer and market requirements.Establish strong engineering and development processes while maintaining the speed and flexibility required in a growing technology company.Maintain high standards for product performance, quality, reliability, and technical documentation.Technology Project ManagementTake ownership of technology projects from planning and resource allocation through execution and delivery.Establish project scope, milestones, technical requirements, timelines, and responsibilities.Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and other internal stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.Proactively identify technical and project risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.Ensure projects are delivered according to agreed quality standards, budgets, and timelines.Engineering Team LeadershipLead, mentor, and develop Microavia’s engineering and technology teams.Establish clear responsibilities, objectives, and performance expectations.Build a culture of accountability, technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Support the recruitment and development of strong technical talent as the organization grows.R&D and InnovationLead research and development initiatives in autonomous systems and drone technologies.Evaluate emerging technologies and their potential application within Microavia’s products.Encourage rapid experimentation, prototyping, and validation of new technical concepts.Develop relationships with technology partners, research institutions, and other external experts where relevant.Technology Operations, Quality & ComplianceEnsure the company’s technology infrastructure and engineering processes support security, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.Ensure technical development and products comply with applicable UAE and international regulatory requirements.Continuously improve engineering efficiency, quality control, and cost effectiveness.Customers & StakeholdersRepresent the technology function in discussions with key customers, partners, and other stakeholders.Support complex customer engagements by translating operational requirements into viable technical solutions.Present technology strategy, development progress, risks, and key decisions to executive leadership and other stakeholders.What We Are Looking ForBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical discipline.5+ years of experience in senior technology or engineering leadership roles, ideally within robotics, autonomous systems, UAV/drone technology, aerospace, or another complex hardware/software environment.Strong experience managing the full product development lifecycle and delivering complex technology projects.Solid understanding of system architecture and multidisciplinary engineering environments involving hardware, software, electronics, embedded systems, and/or autonomous technologies.Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams.Strong project management capabilities; PMP or equivalent certification is an advantage.Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear business decisions.Experience working with customers and senior stakeholders on technically complex projects.Strategic mindset combined with a hands-on, execution-oriented leadership style.Experience operating in a fast-growing or entrepreneurial technology environment is highly valued.Why MicroaviaThis role offers the opportunity to take genuine ownership of the technology function within a highly specialized technology company.The successful candidate will have a direct impact on Microavia’s technology roadmap, engineering organization, product development, and future generation of autonomous systems, working closely with the CEO and leadership team from our Dubai headquarters.
