Chief Technology Officer | AI-Native Precision Medicine & GenomicsEagle Search has been retained by a fast-growing, AI-native biotechnology company that is seeking an exceptional CTO to own the technical architecture and engineering organisation behind its precision medicine platform.The organisation has built an agentic AI platform that trains and deploys models on complex, multimodal patient data to identify biomarkers, de-risk clinical trials, and power AI-driven diagnostics and already has AI diagnostic products approved and in clinical use in Europe, and multi-year platform partnerships with major global pharmaceutical companies.The organisation is now scaling its engineering function quickly to support a growing model portfolio, an expanding base of hospital and biopharma integrations, and an increasingly agentic product roadmap.The OpportunityThe company is looking to appoint a CTO to take full technical ownership of the platform: its architecture, its engineering organisation, and the build decisions that will determine how well it scales.This is a hands-on technical leadership position with direct ownership of the platform's architecture: the privacy-preserving infrastructure that trains and deploys AI models on sensitive, multimodal patient data at scale, the systems that turn that data into deployable products, and the security and technical controls required to meet rigorous privacy and regulatory standards across multiple European and international jurisdictions.The successful individual will set technical direction and engineering standards across the organisation, make the key build-vs-buy and infrastructure decisions that determine how the platform scales, and retain final authority on technical trade-offs as the company grows its model portfolio, its base of hospital and biopharma partners, and an increasingly AI-driven product roadmap.The Ideal PersonA hands-on technical background with direct experience architecting and scaling ML/AI infrastructure — ideally including production systems handling large-scale, sensitive, or regulated dataAbility to balance strategic technology leadership with a strong understanding of product, architecture, and engineering execution.Experience building and leading engineering teams from the ground up in a scale-up environment, with a clear point of view on hiring bar, technical culture and how to balance research velocity against production reliabilityA track record of making and owning significant build-vs-buy and infrastructure decisions at scale, including cloud architecture, compute strategy and cost management for ML workloadsFamiliarity with the engineering demands of regulated software and the technical rigour required to support regulatory-approved medical productsAn understanding of modern ML infrastructure and MLOps practicesComfortable operating as the final technical decision-maker in a fast-growing, mission-driven, AI-native environmentA genuine interest in the intersection of AI, genomics and biology, and in building the infrastructure that will shape precision medicine over the next decade
