CTO | High Growth AI Scale-Up| Berlin Hybrid | EquityWe are partnering with a fast growing scale-up that has built strong commercial traction and is entering a significant period of expansion.The business has an established product, strong financial backing and ambitious plans for the next stage of growth. AI plays a major role within the product and technology strategy, but this position will have responsibility for the entire technology organisation.About the roleThis is a senior leadership role with responsibility for the overall technology direction of the business.You will oversee Engineering, AI, Data Science, architecture, infrastructure and the wider technical organisation, making sure all areas develop in line with the company’s growth.There is already a strong technical foundation in place, but the business is entering a stage where the technology organisation needs to become more structured and scalable.You will work closely with the founders and wider leadership team to define the technology strategy, set priorities across the technical organisation and ensure the right people, processes and systems are in place for the next stage.AI will remain an important part of the company’s product and future direction, so you will need to understand how AI and machine learning should be developed and applied within the business. However, the role is broader than AI and requires someone who can take ownership of technology as a whole.A major part of the role will be developing the technical leadership structure, building strong teams and ensuring Engineering, AI, Data Science and Product Technology work together effectively.What you’ll doOwn the overall technology strategy and direction of the company.Oversee Engineering, AI, Data Science, architecture, infrastructure and wider technical operations.Work closely with the founders and leadership team on company, product and technology priorities.Define how the technology organisation should develop as the business scales.Build and develop strong technical leadership across the organisation.Ensure AI and machine learning remain closely aligned with the wider product and technology strategy.Set clear priorities across technical teams and ensure strong execution.Develop the structure, processes and standards needed for the technology organisation to scale.Hire, develop and retain strong technical people.Ensure architecture and infrastructure can support continued growth.Work closely with Product and commercial teams to ensure technology investment supports business priorities.Maintain high standards across engineering quality, security, reliability and technical decision making.What you’ll bringStrong experience leading technology organisations within a high growth technology company.Experience overseeing multiple technical functions, rather than one specialist area.Strong understanding of software engineering, architecture, infrastructure and modern technology organisations.Good understanding of AI and machine learning and how they fit within a wider technology strategy.Experience scaling Engineering, AI or Data Science teams.Experience building technical leadership structures and developing senior people.Strong product and commercial understanding.Experience defining and delivering technology strategy during periods of significant growth.Comfortable working closely with founders and taking responsibility for major technology decisions.Strong judgement around where to invest, what to prioritise and how to structure technical teams.What’s on offerCompetitive compensation package.Equity in the business.Significant ownership over the technology direction of the company.Responsibility for the full technology organisation.The opportunity to shape Engineering, AI and Data Science during a major period of growth.Direct involvement in company and product strategy.Work alongside an experienced leadership and technical team.Berlin based hybrid working.Relocation support available.
