Chief Technology Officer (CTO)New York Metropolitan Area | Full-Time | HybridWe are seeking an accomplished Chief Technology Officer to lead the technology organization of an established financial technology company operating mission-critical platforms within the electronic trading and payments ecosystem.This is an opportunity for a technology builder and business-minded leader with a start up mindset who combines deep technical expertise with a track record of building high-performing, efficient engineering organizations in the financial services or fintech industries. The CTO will set technology strategy while remaining close enough to the technology to guide architecture, modernization, and critical engineering decisions.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine and execute the company's technology strategy and roadmap.Lead engineering, architecture, infrastructure, DevOps, security, and technology operations.Build, develop, and retain high-performing, efficient engineering teams with a strong culture of ownership and accountability.Own the technology budget, prioritizing investments and optimizing internal resources, vendors, and infrastructure.Lead modernization of complex, mission-critical platforms while maintaining reliability, security, scalability, and resiliency.Drive adoption of modern technologies, including AI and AI-enabled engineering tools, to improve development, automation, productivity, and platform capabilities.Establish strong engineering practices and metrics around delivery, quality, performance, reliability, and cost.Partner with executive leadership, Product, Operations, Compliance, Risk, and other stakeholders to align technology with business priorities.QualificationsSenior technology leadership experience within fintech, banking, payments, capital markets, financial infrastructure, or another highly regulated environment.Proven experience building and scaling complex, mission-critical technology platforms.Strong technical foundation in software engineering, distributed systems, cloud architecture, Blockchain, APIs, data, and cybersecurity.Demonstrated success building, leading, and retaining exceptional engineering teams.Experience managing significant technology budgets and resources with a focus on efficiency and ROI.Strong understanding of AI and emerging technologies and their practical application to engineering, automation, and business operations.Experience modernizing platforms without compromising stability or business continuity.Ability to operate comfortably at both the strategic and hands-on technical leadership levels.Strong business judgment and executive communication skills.The OpportunityThis role offers the opportunity to shape the next generation of technology for an established fintech company operating in an environment where security, reliability, and performance are critical.We are looking for a CTO who still thinks like a builder—someone who understands that great technology organizations combine exceptional people, strong engineering practices, modern technology, and disciplined investment.Interested candidates are encouraged to apply or reach out for a confidential conversation.
