Role Description The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a part-time remote role responsible for shaping and executing Yak Biergarten’s technology vision across its digital and operational platforms. This role involves defining IT strategy that supports business growth, guest experience, and integration with Yak Brewing Co. systems. The CTO will oversee software and product development efforts, guide system and data architecture, and ensure that technology solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational goals. In collaboration with leadership and cross-functional teams, the CTO will manage technology projects, prioritize initiatives, and build processes that improve efficiency, analytics, and digital engagement. Day-to-day activities include reviewing technical roadmaps, coordinating with external vendors or internal developers, monitoring performance of key systems, and advising on new tools or technologies that can strengthen Yak Biergarten’s operations and customer experience.QualificationsDemonstrated proficiency in Software Development and Product Development, including leading the creation and enhancement of digital platforms and tools.Experience with IT Strategy and Architecture, with the ability to design secure, scalable, and reliable systems that support business objectives.Strong Project Management skills, including planning, execution, risk management, and coordination of cross-functional technology initiatives.Proven leadership in technology roles, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence strategic decisions.Background in hospitality, food and beverage, or related industries is beneficial, particularly experience integrating POS, reservation, and analytics systems.Familiarity with cloud-based solutions, data security best practices, and digital customer engagement platforms (web, mobile, social media integrations).Ability to work independently in a remote, part-time capacity, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively across time zones.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
