Chief Technology Officer | SaaS

For an established SaaS organisation in the Rotterdam area, we are looking for a Chief Technology Officer to lead the next phase of its technology organisation.The company employs approximately 40 people, including around 20 engineers. The strategic direction is clear. The next challenge is to translate that direction into consistent execution, measurable results and sustainable scale.As CTO, you will be part of the Management Team and take responsibility for further professionalising the engineering organisation, strengthening the connection between Product and Technology and creating the structure needed for continued growth.The roleYou will lead an experienced engineering organisation and help create an environment in which teams can deliver with greater clarity, ownership and predictability.Your focus will include:Translating the company strategy into a clear technology roadmap and execution modelStrengthening alignment between Product and EngineeringImproving delivery predictability, prioritisation and ownershipFurther professionalising engineering processes and ways of workingBuilding a scalable technology organisation for the next phase of growthCoaching and developing engineering leadership and teamsEnsuring technology investments translate into measurable business outcomesReviewing team structure, capabilities and future capacity requirementsMaking pragmatic decisions around build vs buyExploring how distributed or international engineering capacity can support future growthMaintaining a strong balance between speed, quality, scalability and technical sustainabilityThe development organisation is currently based in the Netherlands. As the company grows, different models for scaling engineering capacity, including distributed and nearshore teams, are being explored.What we are looking forYou are an experienced technology leader who combines technical credibility with strong organisational and business judgement.Ideally, you bring:10+ years of experience within software and technologyPrevious experience as CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Engineering or in a comparable senior technology leadership roleExperience within a SaaS or software product environmentExperience leading and developing engineering organisations of approximately 15–30+ peopleA track record of professionalising technology organisations during a growth phaseStrong understanding of software architecture, cloud environments and modern engineering practicesExperience bringing Product and Engineering closer togetherA pragmatic perspective on engineering processes, team design and deliveryThe ability to challenge technical decisions without needing to be a day-to-day developerStrong communication skills and experience operating as part of a Management TeamExperience with distributed development teams, international engineering organisations or external development partners is a strong advantage.We are particularly interested in technology leaders who have experienced both sides of the scaling question: what should remain core and internal, and where can external or international capabilities strengthen the organisation?What we offerBase salary between €125,000 and €150,000Performance-related bonusPension schemeAttractive secondary benefitsHybrid workingA key position within the Management TeamSignificant influence on the future technology organisation and engineering strategyThe position becomes available as part of a transition within the current management structure.Interested?If you are an experienced technology leader and this challenge resonates with you, we would be happy to have an informal conversation.Send us a message or apply directly and we will get in touch.
