Chief UAV Systems Scientist- long-range UAVs

Position Overview: Lead multidisciplinary UAV research and development programs focused on long-range UAVs (1,000+ km), loitering munitions, and vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) platforms. The role requires an experienced technical leader with a demonstrated record of managing aerospace or defense programs and guiding teams through the full program lifecycle.ResponsibilitiesSet program priorities, development roadmaps, and delivery milestones across the assigned UAV portfolio.Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering and research teams.Coordinate program requirements, technical reviews, documentation, and cross-functional activities.Oversee program schedules, budgets, resources, quality, and risk management.Coordinate testing, certification, and readiness reviews with relevant teams and authorities.Manage collaboration with suppliers, research partners, and internal stakeholders.Ensure adherence to applicable aviation, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.QualificationsPhD in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering; an MSc is acceptable with strong UAV program experience.Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in aerospace or defense R&D;, including leadership of UAV programs.At least 5-7 years in senior leadership roles.Experience within defense UAV programs or leading aerospace/defense contractors.Proven track record of leading UAV engineering teams and delivering complex programs.Required SkillsRelevant program experience with long-range UAVs (1,000+ km), loitering munitions, and VTOL platforms.Strong understanding of UAV systems engineering and the aerospace development lifecycle.Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering functions and manage complex technical programs.Strong technical leadership, stakeholder communication, and team development skills.
