Chinese Translator

Role Description The Chinese Translator will work full time on-site in Akwa Ibom, supporting clear and accurate communication between Chinese- and English-speaking stakeholders. Day-to-day tasks include translating written documents such as emails, contracts, technical materials, and reports from Chinese to English and vice versa. The role also involves interpreting during meetings, site visits, and conference calls to ensure all parties understand discussions and decisions. The translator will collaborate closely with operational, administrative, and management teams, maintaining confidentiality and consistency of terminology. The position requires attention to detail, adherence to deadlines, and support for cross-cultural understanding in a busy work environment.QualificationsStrong proficiency in both written and spoken Chinese (Mandarin) and English, with the ability to provide accurate, context-sensitive translations.Experience in document translation and live interpretation, preferably in a corporate, industrial, or technical setting.Excellent grammar, vocabulary, and editing skills, with meticulous attention to detail and consistency.Solid understanding of cross-cultural communication and the ability to convey meaning appropriately across languages.Ability to work on-site in Eket, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency with common office software and basic translation tools; familiarity with terminology related to energy or industrial operations is an advantage.Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality and ethical communication.Bachelor’s degree in Languages, Translation, Linguistics, International Studies, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
