Job Title: Civil Team Lead

Location: ErbilSector: Energy/ Power PlanetPurpose of the JobEnsure that the Civil Work:Meets the functional requirements of the projectMeets minimum safety and reliability requirements per best industry practicesMeets maintainability requirementsMaximizes use of locally available materialEnsure material selection aligns with project specifications.Ensure the Civil System design is:Sufficiently detailed to ensure smooth procurementSufficiently detailed to avoid confusion during constructionEnsure the Civil system design:Caters for all requirements of other disciplinesProvides sufficient and correct information as required by other disciplinesEnsure building support systems (Architecture, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, etc.) meet the above criteria and local requirements.Main DutiesSupervise site survey, analyze and approve topographic surveying reportsReview documents issued by other engineering disciplines and provide commentsInform the Civil team of scope modifications, advise on solutions, and instruct updates to Civil documentsCoordinate with other discipline specialists to review civil designReview and approve geotechnical investigation reportsReview MR/subcontract packages, provide comments/approvals, and support procurement with technical detailsReview and approve technical bid evaluations from Civil subcontractors; accept or reject technical offersProvide engineering expertise and technical support for project planningReview vendor design submissions and approve start of manufacturingSupervise review of contractor-prepared drawing layouts and formwork/steel reinforcement documentsAnswer technical inquiries from Civil construction site engineersLead, mentor, and supervise the Civil engineering team, including assigning tasks, managing workload, and ensuring quality of deliverablesPerform other tasks assigned by direct manager within scope of workDemonstrate commitment to occupational safety and health proceduresGeneral Administrative DutiesPrepare periodic activity/achievement reports for direct supervisorSpecify manpower requirements per recruitment/HR planning practicesIdentify training needs of subordinates and evaluate training outcomes with HR & AdminFollow up on employee affairs (vacations, leaves, etc.)Conduct performance appraisals for subordinates and recommend actionsNominate a deputy to cover the role in case of absenceCommunication ChannelsInternal:All Engineering DivisionsProject Engineering ManagerProject Procurement ManagerExternal:Construction PMField Engineering TeamSite QC TeamJob SpecificationEducation:Bachelor's Degree in Civil EngineeringExperience:10–12 years of design experience in thermal power plant projectsMinimum 5 years of experience in a Civil Team Lead or supervisory role, leading multidisciplinary civil engineering teamsProven track record of leading civil design teams on complex industrial projectsExperience in thermal power plant design is requiredExperience in pipeline-only projects will not be considered relevantStrong seniority and leadership profile suitable for leading a teamTechnical Knowledge:In-depth knowledge of best thermal power plant design procedures and practicesKnowledge of Civil Standards (International and Chinese)Knowledge of Health and Safety lawsAbility to coordinate civil design with other engineering disciplinesStrong understanding of procurement and construction support requirementsSoftware/Training Knowledge:Civil 3DAutoCADRevit (preferable)MS OfficeLanguages:English (Mandatory) — Good speaking, good reading, excellent writingArabic (Optional) — Good speaking, good reading, excellent writingKurdish (Optional, preferred) — Good speaking, good reading, excellent writing
