Class Teacher (SEMH/SEND) – Ages 13–18

Location: Westcliff-on-SeaSalary: £35,000 to £40,000 Contract: Permanent Start Date: January 2027Teach Where Relationships Come FirstWe are seeking a compassionate, creative, and resilient Class Teacher to join our specialist provision for students between 13–18.

Our School works closely with our children’s homes to provide a consistent, nurturing, and trauma-informed environment where children feel safe, understood, and able to learn.This is a role for a Teacher who believes in the power of connection, who sees behaviour as communication, and who is committed to helping young people rebuild trust in education. Your RoleDelivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the learning needs of the students Creating a calm, structured, and emotionally safe classroom environmentUsing trauma-informed strategies to support regulation, resilience, and positive relationshipsWorking closely with the children’s home team to ensure consistency across home and schoolPlanning personalised learning pathways that build confidence and celebrate progressUsing assessment to inform teaching and track holistic developmentSupporting students with social, emotional, and communication needsContributing to a multi-disciplinary approach that places the child at the centreWhat We’re Looking ForA qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent)Experience teaching secondary school students, ideally within SEMH/SEND settingsStrong subject knowledge, particularly Maths and ScienceThe ability to deliver engaging lessonsA relational, reflective, and child-centred approachConfidence in adapting the curriculum to meet diverse needsStrong behaviour support skills grounded in empathy and understandingExcellent communication and teamwork, especially across care and educationA commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of childrenWhat We OfferA supportive, trauma-informed team cultureClose collaboration with the residential team to ensure joined-up careSmall class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratioOngoing CPD, trauma-informed practice, and therapeutic approachesA chance to make a profound difference in the lives of children who deserve stability, belief, and opportunityHow to ApplyPlease send your CV and a covering letter outlining your experience and motivation to: recruitment@kitescs.com
