JOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible for the operational condition, maintenance and repair of all medical equipment and mechanical/electrical systems to ensure the safety of patients as well as the staff operating the equipment. This position is also responsible for providing professional levels of customer service to personnel throughout CCAD.PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESConsults with medical or research staff to make sure that equipment functions properly and safely, utilizing knowledge of electronics and medical terminologyRepairs, calibrates and maintains group one and group two medical equipment and instrumentation used in the health care delivery field.Inspects, installs and coordinates commissioning of medical and related technical equipment for use by physicians, nurses, scientists or engineers involved in researching, monitoring, diagnosing and treatingServices various equipment, such as patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood gas analyzers, x-ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood pressure transducers, spiro meters, sterilizers, diathermy equipment and other related medical equipmentRepairs and maintains equipment using hand tools, test equipment, measuring devices and knowledge of manufacturers’ manuals, troubleshooting techniques and preventive-maintenance schedulesTests medical equipment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazardsWork with, and directs the activities of, contractors, vendors and outside service technicians, to ensure the appropriate delivery of servicesQUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSAssociate’s degree is required.Must have completed training programs from an accredited educational organization in at least two of the following areas: general diagnostic imaging, mammography, radiographic/fluoroscopic imaging, nuclear medicine, CT/MR, ultrasound or PACSMinimum of three to five (3-5) years experience servicing and performing repairs on sophisticated medical equipmentFamiliarity with and demonstrated proficiency in resolving complex technical problems in biomedical equipmentDemonstrated customer support skills and PC competency with knowledge of computer networksHealth care industry experience is preferred
